There seems to be more to the never-Trump movement than meets the eye - I have an idea that there is a lot of scuttling about beneath the flat stone and Trump is wondering when to lift it.

If I could, I'd double-like this one. A comparison to "the gray champion" of the Fourth Turning comes to mind. No saints ... just the right person with the right policies and the right stamina at the right time. The Republic can be thankful later ... if it survives. Then the Bards will do what they've always done ... with songs of victory or defeat.

However, a real case in history is Churchill who after getting the Britain through the 2nd World War was immediately voted out of office in peace time.

However, a real case in history is Churchill who after getting the Britain through the 2nd World War was immediately voted out of office in peace time. We have a similar example here. In the early 90s, Victorian Conservative Premier Jeff Kennett was voted in after years of Labor (=Dems) mismanagement had left the state with huge debt. Two terms. Fixed the debt problem (with some voter pain). Dumped. Arrogant.

Former US Republican President George Bush Sr has confirmed he voted for Democrat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, labeling Donald Trump a "blowhard". www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41871958Well done, well done sir. Some would suggest he doesn't blow hard enough. But I digress.

"The Back Story on Michael Flynn: How Obama Officials Set Him Up
Obama already despised Flynn. But his hate likely turned to fear when his former DIA decided to throw his support behind Donald J. Trump, another boat-rocker who had a real chance of winning. Obama made a point after the 2016 election of advising Trump not to hire Flynn. But Trump didn’t listen."www.redstate.com/elizabeth-vaughn/2018/12/07/back-story-michael-flynn-obama-officials-set/

"As the world awaits the next nasty utterance from Donald Trump, one can only marvel at how history itself has ended up in (language alert!) — a “censored to protect sensitive Australian readers” Amid the chronic shock and horrified reactions, people have become blind to the fact that he is not (yet) the most disgusting U.S. president in living memory. That title actually belongs to a Texan Democrat, Lyndon B. Johnson, a howling, flatulent tormentor of women whose cussing and racism remain breathtaking today. And if you’re offended by Trump’s level of vulgarity, you really — really — don’t want to read any further."nationalpost.com/opinion/the-most-vulgar-american-president-ever-it-sure-as-isnt-donald-trump
