So California, France and UK have now proposed mandates that in 30 years they will no longer have cars with internal combustion engines. This is virtue signalling taken to an art form as there is no infrastructure to support electric vehicles on that scale in California, France or UK: How do you charge cars that have no 'off street' parking? Nor do those states have sufficient energy generation to support recharging millions of electric vehicles every night. Whereas townies have no problem with a car that has a maximum range of 200 miles on one charge; those who make significant journeys - I used to drive London to Hanover to London quite regularly or Amsterdam to Paris and back to London - would find that electric cars have a very short range and then a mandatory few hours out while they recharge - a hotel stop just to drive the length of Florida.
Now as has been reported the only known commercial cobalt mines are in Congo where it is de-rigeur to use children for sorting rocks and mining. Cobalt being the in element to create LithiumIon batteries.
Child miners aged four living a hell on Earth so YOU can drive an electric car: Awful human cost in squalid Congo cobalt mine that Michael Gove didn’t consider in his ‘clean’ energy crusade
** Sky News investigated the Katanga mines and found Dorsen, 8, and Monica, 4
** The pair were working in the vast mines of the Democratic Republic of Congo
** They are two of the 40,000 children working daily in the mines, checking rocks for cobalt

So all the virtue signalling green townies in their electric cars are employing 4 year olds to mine the elements for the batteries. How very Malthusian of them. But like the remote pollution the remote child miners (minors) are unimportant compared to the appearance of being green.
I wonder if Governor Brown, President Macron, or Michael Gove MP even care about what will happen in Congo due to their unworkable edicts?
