Some good stuff is happening. If you want to be part of it visit judithcurry.com/All activities surrounding the suppression of free speech by the extreme left is being completely ignored by liberals. This is fascism in all its glory last horribly manifested in Germany of the 1930's where the German people ignored what was going on around them. What you find in the climate debate is just another manifestation of that. The "I am smarter or more ethical than you" attitude has done nothing but grow and grow over the past 36 years to a point we now have fascists in the streets duking it out. My Lordy! Its been clear to me that warmists do not want debate. Skeptical Science and Real Climate sites have focused on preventing debate. For many years I have banged my head against a wall of inculcated polticians doing favors for their supporters and restricting the rights of the citizenry on shadowy science. That may be ending and may be the reason the left is losing its mind. To them their superiority is being questioned which is totally unacceptable. At any rate Judith Curry's site is sponsoring a public debate on the science underlying an alarmist study that is a product of the Obama administration. She is asking the public to review the draft study, and provide "supported" comments. Politics and Science go hand in hand. We want politics to use science when its available. One of the key mistakes in science is when politics will accept any science as when best available science reaches into a realm of controversy. I think most of us here can agree the science surrounding climate is sketchy at best. And there are a very large number of competent scientists that ascribe to that view. Typically when an administration is inculcated by their donors, they stop listening. Judith Curry is in contact with the administration and can deliver a response. She will be contributing at a minimum in selecting relevant and supported comments on the draft study. It should be interesting to read even if its not to contribute.

That's scarier than what I thought. A Mineral Resources course gone bad ... with a section on social justice??

In the Fourth Turning they are the next cannon fodder generation. I assume that will result in some outlook adjustment as they may have no skills that would get them a deferment.

I've been hearing interesting things about my sons high school "English" teacher. She is a front line social justice warrior. She gave my son some questionnaire that included a check box "preferred gender", the whole point of the questionnaire likely being so that she could ask that silly question. She founded the schools "black lives matter" organization, and has several other notable accomplishments credited to her. Something tells me that they will not be reading the Bronte sisters or King Lear this semester.
Wednesday she brought a bag of onions, and the students were instructed to peel the layers of the onions, and she explained that white privilege is similar to the layers of an onion.
On the plus side, many of the students seem to know that she is an idiot.

If she is asking about sex of the pupil then that is the word she should use rather than an incorrect euphemism as she is embarrassed to say 'sex'. Also, it is not something that is normally considered a preference but could be asked as what sex are you? Then what sex would you prefer to be? However, it is 'sex' not 'gender'.

I have been thinking about whether or not to request a conference. My level of disgust is such that I wouldn't know where to begin. If we are a generation of fools, so be it. I am not able to stand in front of the tide.

It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.

I am not able to stand in front of the tide. In a conservative state such as Oklahoma I would think that the 'dull' edge of the budget butter knife might be brought to bear effectively against such teachers by insuring their administrators (principals and school district) that very bad things were going to start to happen to them budget wise if they didn't get their act together, and pronto. You might request to address a legislative committee. It's not a tide ... it's an invasion.

You might request to address a legislative committee. It's not a tide ... it's an invasion. They are trying this kind of thing everywhere for example school inspectors in UK: "Parents objected to questions their children were asked, including if they knew what lesbians “did” and if their friends felt trapped in the “wrong body”.
Another question asked by inspectors was: “Is there anyone in your school that’s a tom boy?”
According to Mr Gray, one parent was “very angry” as the “inspectors seemed unaware that girls could interpret a question about “tom boys” as a comment on their own appearance”."www.christian.org.uk/news/ofsted-quiz-kids-at-christian-school-on-what-lesbians-do/To be honest I think that these inspectors and teachers find this kind of intrusive questioning of young prepubescent children arousing. It certainly stimulates reward centers in their brains or they wouldn't be doing it. If they had to write a section on the ergonomics of the classroom furniture they would resist doing it but they are keen to push their ideas on anything sexual onto children and are volunteering to do it. They definitely should not be allowed to be on their own with children. Perhaps the best method of stopping them is to ask that these teachers are not allowed to be alone with a class as you do not feel you can trust them.
