So it's unprecedented then?

well a constrained "unprecedented" or more accurately "not unprecedented".
every few years a new word hits the media to be used for everything and that word is in its last phase before sinking.

Heard thunder so there must have been lightning. Got a few 10's of an inch of rain where I sorely needed some.

Heard thunder so there must have been lightning. Got a few 10's of an inch of rain where I sorely needed some. Been a fair amount of storms on the East coast. Down in Florida we had around 5" - 6" in around 90 minutes so everything is damp. Up here in Maryland several of the houses have unexpected swimming pools in their basements after 8" of rain overnight. And of course Ellicot flooded _again_.

So it's unprecedented then? In my feeble life experience yes, not a very scientific analysis however 😉

So I had the lightening app up on my computer Tuesday afternoon when it seemed like Zeus himself sent a bolt right into my Mississippi Gulf house. Epic! A/C circuit boards, the microwave, all the TVs and my Onkyo amplifier, not to mention the cable box, fried in an instant. It set off the smoke detector, the burglar alarm and the dog, for about three minutes of utter chaos until I got things calmed down. Tripped most of the breakers, and dug a trench across the yard to the grinder pump power source. My surge detectors got smoked as well. Needless to say, I lost the app. Crazy what 1 million volts can do to 21st century electrical gear.
