Amtrak Train Stranded in Oregon For More Than 35 Hours as Winter Storm Ryan Dumps Heavy Snow on the NorthwestAn Amtrak train with nearly 200 passengers finally began moving Tuesday morning after being stranded in Oregon for more than 35 hours after Winter Storm Ryan dumped heavy snow on the Pacific Northwest.
Coast Starlight Train 11 had been traveling from Seattle to Los Angeles with 183 passengers and crew aboard when it hit a downed tree in Oakridge, Oregon, around 6:15 p.m. PT Sunday. Continued heavy snow and more downed trees prevented a rescue for more than a day.
Passenger Rebekah Dodson told weather.com the passengers were very upset when they were told early Monday it would take up to 20 more hours to be rescued. One could only imagine their response if they had been part of the Donner party. weather.com/news/news/2019-02-25-winter-storm-ryan-impacts-pacific-northwest

Almost 200 people have been stuck on an Amtrak train in Oregon since Sunday

Middle Earth forecasted to see -3 F night of March 3, 2019. Only 8 years in 129 year records with negative F temps the first week of March. This would be the 5th coldest. The biggies were: 1960 -9 F, 1890 -6 F, 1978 -5 F and 2002 -4 F. All of these except for 2002 were solar minimums. If progression of spotless days is similar in length to that between SC23 and SC24 we should see another full year of largely spotless days on our star.

They are rapidly running out of winter storm names. They're up to Taylor. Colorado is buried. No water shortfall this year.

No snow, just grey, wet, windy 😜 Still low water levels..... P is due to be Peggy, my grandmothers name. Her maiden name was Rainbow (yes really!) I have been imagining an appropriate photo 🤔 dont think itll happen in reality....

It brings to mind blue skies, warm wind and skipping through the daises.

I think Peggy Rainbow is a lovely name, harking back to a time of innocence and fun that we've seem to have lost now. Shame
