"Meanwhile, the 20-year subsidies granted to wind, solar, and biogas since 2000 will start coming to an end next year. “The wind power boom is over,” Der Spiegel concludes."And when the subsidies go - so do the subsidy farmers. The subsidy farms go into bankruptcy and the subsidy farm markers - windmills - rot and remain as rusting monuments to the monumental idiocy of politicians. "Many Germans will, like Der Spiegel, claim the renewables transition was merely “botched,” but it wasn't. The transition to renewables was doomed because modern industrial people, no matter how Romantic they are, do not want to return to pre-modern life.
The reason renewables can’t power modern civilization is because they were never meant to. One interesting question is why anybody ever thought they could. "

I just saw a woman walking along the swollen Arkansas River in a park in Tulsa holding a sign that read "Climate change causes more extreme weather events".
This smallish flood is not more than a 2 standard deviation event. The fact is, it has been temperate, green and coolish around here for the last several years.

In their minds, the burden of proof is to show that things are not caused by AGW, rather than the other way around.

[ Snip ] Never let a weather event go to waste. In their minds, the burden of proof is to show that things are not caused by AGW, rather than the other way around. The IPCC was not tasked to see if there was AGW; they were tasked to highlight the risks of AGW. They were operating under a foregone conclusion in 1988. The IPCC is a political organization. It was told "this is the argument we need to make, find something to support it. "

A lot of stating the bleeding obvious in that and I wonder how much publicity it would have received had the magic words not been included. " Climate change must be factored into efforts to prevent childhood gastro across the globe because there is a link between the disease and extreme weather, a new study has found." What does that mean?

Some of our local government bodies need to heed that wake-up call.
