2 inches of snow here in Anchorage on Monday morning.
Nice late snow. Nothing like the 20 inches we got last April on the 25th, I think, but a nice late snow. Helped clear the thin layer of volcanic ash off the deck.

Been very dry here in the upper midwest. We are WAY behind on precip... Started around the 1st of the year, after a record DEC we just flipped to a dry/cool pattern... Haven't had snow in a long time... Should see our first 70F this week, which is probably a little late for here. Very odd spring.
We had a dewpoint of 5F today with a temp of 65F. Almost unheard of in this area.

Cold here in the West. Snowed today to below 5000 ft. ie the valley floor here in the Carson Valley, and cold too. I imagine this storm will push into the Rockies soon, then into the midwest and beyond.

More like June than April here in the UK - and across most of Europe from what I gather. We even had a thunderstorm last night. seems like the US is the only place cooler thant normal.

I have to agree with you glc. After a bitterly cold winter and late spring, it's finally here in the uk. (Still frost in Wales last week mind you)
Hoping for a dry summer but in the last few years they have gotten shorter and wetter. I'm hoping for a warm dry may/june/july then back to the wet autumns and freezing winters of the last few years. This winter is going to be interesting for both sides.

I know parts of France and Germany have been very warm lately.
We hit 67F today which is the warmest day so far this year. Should hit 70F the next 3 days. Avg is 59F. Still we are running below normal for the month in the temp dept, although by next week we will probably be about normal for the month.
The desert southwest (CA/AZ/etc) is looking to really start to bake in the next week. Wouldn't be surprised to see a 100F reading sometime soon (Yuma?)...

I don't know where in England glc and gettingchilly are but here in the midlands it's more like March.Had to put the central heating back on. On a different note, summer migrant birds seem to be arriving on time with one or two about 10 days early, but if this weather keeps up,cold and wet, they may struggle to find food.

UK had high T just for 2 or 3 days dont overstate facts. Its normal. Its April, look at the archives and you ll find out that you had such T years before too, not to mention that sometimes it was more than what you had this year. Periodicity also counts... And i dont see any abnormalities across Europe in terms of high T! Its just weather And dont you guys show me the T in Spain or in mid-latitudes ;D Its normal for this region too... Nothing unprecedented.

I'm in kent and glc is 150 miles north of me.
Very mild now in kent, last few days at least. Very wet as well but I think winter has finally gone.
I dare you mother nature to give me another frost, don't think you have the balls for it :-) (of course)

CET for April (up to 16th) is 2.7 deg above normal. CET for 2009 is 0.66 deg above normal - despite the "bitterly cold" winter. Frosts in the UK are (or used to be) quite common in April and also in May. People have become accustomed to the recent warmer climate and so view what is, so far, a warm month as nothing out of the ordinary.
