We have a nasty Tropical Storm moving through SE Texas this evening. Not much in the way of winds but some heavy rains.

Hope the flooding is not severe. Thanks got about 6" of rain so far and hopefully it pulls out and goes north tomorrow. Models are a little concerning but I've been through my share of these and after Harvey 2 years ago I am a little shell shocked.

I only have anecdotal evidence but it certainly seems storms are stalling more frequently nowadays. Perhaps due to the loopy jet? Harvey stalled over Texas barely moving in August of 2017 and dropping 50"+ inches of rain on the Houston area. Then Dorian stalled over Grand Bahama and Abaco for what seemed like days as a catastrophic cat 5 storm. Now this rainmaker is barely moving over Houston dumping rain on it's slow track.
Been through a good number of these tropical storms and most seemed to move through, do their damage and move out. These new generation storms seem to barely creep ahead...

Some metrics, 2m temps, pressure anomaly and rainfall while Harvey was active over land.
Did Harvey as it was the event with least jetstream activity so looking for anything else that stands out...
