Interesting tool. Turn on the the SST anomaly overlay and zoom out to its widest extent. Note the disbursed blue balls of cold in the NE parts of the gyres in both the Pacific and the Atlantic. Warm circulation breakdown? And that tongue of cold water in the ENSO regions? That is really fast ... although the tool seems to have little time series capability.

Variation on a theme: Pacific and Atlantic have very similar temp disruptions, they often do but more so here?? 🤔

www.policlimate.com/tropical/ Global ACE is about normal for this time of year, although heavily weighted to the southern hemisphere right now. Not sure what that means, if anything. Anyone? Bueller?

www.policlimate.com/tropical/ Global ACE is about normal for this time of year, although heavily weighted to the southern hemisphere right now. Not sure what that means, if anything. Anyone? Bueller? Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) the amount of energy generated/consumed by cyclones/typhoons/hurricanes. This is a large amount than many would expect a 'standard' hurricane cat 3 in one day generates/consumes 200 times the global electricity generation capacity. Now think of how much energy is involved in a large low pressure system with fronts from Michigan to New Orleans. The power of the hydrologic cycle is considerable.
