If so, why do you believe the ocean is rising?
Is it because you were told to believe it? Is it because "everybody knows" it is? Is it because you were told that there is "scientific evidence"? Is it because you were told that we have "satellites that tell us"? Other?

I hear/read a great deal from many people who simply believe, for a variety of WACKY reasons, that the ocean is rising. One of the primary reasons is that it says so on the internet. There is no shortage of people who are quick to send me a link to where they read exactly that. In contrast, there are no people who conclude that the ocean is rising because of valid measurements they have made themselves. In short, if I ask why I should somehow believe that the ocean is rising, the prevailing wisdom is that I would otherwise be a "denier." From The MANUAL Denier or Troll: noun Non-believer; anyone who does not accept Climate Science or who is even willing to express opinions that differ from the Marxist party line. Deniers and Trolls are analogous to "orcs" in the Lord of the Rings.

Answer: Maybe it's rising but, if it is, not much. I grew up in Redcliffe near Brisbane and we regularly re-visit. Personally, I can see no signs of SL rise in the last sixty years. I have collection of photos ... with no idea of tide levels when they were taken. Samples:

California sea level rise: Evidence based forecasts vs. model predictionsHighlights • IPCC extreme predictions have been made worse by other local panels. • Evidence from real sea level measurements does not support models. • Claims and subsequent analyses are speculative. • These results are not suitable for rigorous use in planning or policy making. PS: Co-author Cliff Ollier is a member of a Canberra sceptics group where I lurk.

It is supposedly measured with laser satellite altimeters. It would not surprise me at all if it was rising. Sea Level, like our climate has never been stable. During glaciations sea levels are lowered as more ice is formed and the opposite holds true during inter-glacial periods. We are in an interglacial period are we not? I personally would be much, much more concerned if sea levels were lowering. That would be a foreboding omen as we would struggle to feed our population. What I really want to know is how much of that sea level rise can be attributed to humans and how did the differentiate between "natural" sea level rise and AGW sea level rise. oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/sealevel.html
