No thunderstorms forecast for the rest of the year in the Midlands, a pity as I do like a good storm as long as it doesn't get too close. I am currently living in central Florida, second only to the African Rift valley in storms. If you want to see thunderstorms Central Florida is a good place to be. However, they are a little stronger than your average UK thunderstorm. I had a lightning strike only 40ft away take out one of my palm trees - noisy - thanks to a 'whole house no-break/smoother' system only the pool equipment electrics needed replacing. Add rain at ~6inches an hour rate and it can get a little too exciting Don't come to Florida if you don't like getting wet. I toured Florida in the 90's on a birding trip and it was my best birding holiday ever, I got used to the afternoon downpours (it was April).
