"Flu season usually peaks between December and February. Influenza typically causes about 45 million illnesses, 810,000 hospitalizations and 61,000 deaths in the United States each year, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But so far this flu season (1/16/2021), there have been just 925 reported cases of the flu nationwide." linkUnlike influenza a COVID-19 case gets immediate Federal funding no questions asked - Cui Bono

Two drugs used early reduce admission into hospital and death, including in those considered high-risk subjects, and they go a significant way to filling this need: HCQ and IVM. Both can be used as prophylactic or therapeutic medications. From uncertain beginnings, an impressive data base has more recently accumulated that strongly supports the use of HCQ and/or IVM. Their use in concert with vaccines can no longer be denied; indeed this is the only science-based option. COVID-19: A realistic approach to community managementRobert Clancy is Emeritus Professor of Pathology at the University of Newcastle Medical School. He is a member of the Australian Academy of Science’s COVID-19 Expert Database. The vaccine lobby (and the politicians / WEF using vaccines) will not like it but it is increasingly looking like the pharmaceutical companies have taken the politicians and world FDA's for a ride. The governments covered the financial risk of telescoping the trials and proceeding too far with an ineffective or dangerous vaccine. But the pharmaceuticals appear to have sold the efficacy and safety risks too. The ONLY effective way of dealing with SARS-CoV-2 (and most RNA viruses) are the methods that increase intracellular zinc which includes the zinc/zinc ionophore/antibiotic and the ivermectin, vitamin D etc. This has disproven the old 'delivered wisdom' that viruses were not treatable all you could do was palliative care or early use of vaccines. Yet the politicians and WEF had followed that wisdom and so were planning to control everyone with 'vaccine passports' - if vaccines DO NOT WORK and therapeutics DO WORK - their entire house of cards collapses. So we are at a 'critical juncture' - vaccines are not looking too effective and are potentially killing as many as SARS-CoV-2 (dependent on which reports you read/trust). Big pharma couldn't care less - they are being paid handsomely by politicians (with degrees in political science) trying to outbid other nations to get 'doses of vaccine' and trying to be first to vaccinate their states with more than the others. Don't bother these politicians with arguments on efficacy and side effects - their entire race is more vaccine shots in arms. I have a primary care physician who agrees and spends time to discuss - so I am lucky

Are the Europeans leaving US behind? Arise oh children of Europe. I was in a restaurant west of Columbia the other day. Not a mask to be seen. As a 300+ year Celtic-British expat, I think the cousins need to pay more attention to this guy. Perhaps he'll update it to include covid. Perhaps he can make it 60 million.

A little levity.... "“It looks so weird!”
Does it ever. The Air comes in the kind of nylon pouch normally reserved for Coleman sleeping bags. The mask is made of hard, clear plastic and is encased in a black ring that houses the fan apparatus, along with a neoprene hood and “innovative neck seal.” EXCITING! Now, you might think it’s unwise to deliberately tighten a collar so that oxygen can’t reach your mouth or nose. However, the battery on the Air helmet lasts a whole four hours. Why, that’s almost as long of a charge as you get with a Zune! So if you want to stage the world’s least suspenseful countdown for fresh oxygen, this helmet has everything you need to pull it off."More and better humor Here: www.sfgate.com/sf-culture/article/drew-magary-coronavirus-helmet-microclimate-air-15867960.php

Perhaps a de-icing unit and some windshield wipers. And not to worry! Covid is evolving to infect a--holes. Ya can't keep a good virus down.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pfizer vaccine efficacy is somewhat below what they are claiming. They have been less than open with their data. Moderna has provided much more information. Fortunately, even a 50% efficacy is good because it will reduce the severity of COVID even when an infection does occur. I'm by no means an expert, but I've chosen to receive a Moderna vaccination on Saturday. Every once in a very long while it pays to be old.
