Here in Florida we had fall yesterday all the oaks have dropped their leaves and now it is spring and all the oaks have new buds opening.
So I thought time for the Spring Thread

Spring looks depressing around here after the big freeze. Grass is all dead, palm trees look dead, bushes, shrubs, citrus trees. Dead
Hopefully some will make it back

Dead Hopefully some will make it back We had that problem a few years back. Not helped by the Florida lawns not being grass but being a ground cover plant that is close to it in looks called St Augustine Grass. It does not survive a frost. So we all had dead palms, brown lawns, dead banana trees etc etc - it took months to recover - but they do - even the palms. The only palm I have had die here was one hit by lightning - it didn't like that.

Forecast has us in the 50s and 60s for the next 10 days. All the flower bulbs are convinced it is spring. Have doffodils 1/2" high now. March in like a lamb, out like a lion is the old saying. We'll see. So far Astro is right about the early spring. Spreading the mulch and will do a test annual wildflower seed spread for the hardier varieties.

Don't know where David (Adapt 2030) got this map, but supposedly shows differences in the geographic pattern of tornados during La Nina vs El Nino. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EC6ZBI12KSo

NAO looks to tank...
Mjo moving to 7/8, GFS is responding (?) with winter like synoptics for 10 days out 😲 for Europe.
Well, statistically, in UK its more likely to snow in Easter then Xmas 🤷🏼♂️
Not much certainty atm, but interesting....

This forecast may be a continuation of what we have been seeing the last couple of years ... a lowering of pressures over the Azores from Spring on into Summer with their resulting negative NAOs. April, 2020 was lowest since the beginning of the data series. This ain't Kansas anymore ... and the Wizard has been drinking heavily.

Thx Missouri, the "issue" is these setups can result in transport of air from tropical areas into the temperate which then results in alot of armwaving, gnashing of teeth and road closures by the public.
The event gets blamed on areas of warmth (now known as "Heat") creating disruption to weather patterns.
These disruptive patterns were never predicted by the armwavers, but the Heat was, so it must be the cause.
It's all very logical if you don't think about it.

Crazy chart
We're in the "will it won't it" phase atm....but add to the bank of insane possibilities that have cropped up in the past 2-3 years, and they've certainly verified more frequently past 6 months.

Quite. And does this result in even more rain for our North African friends? Who with the help of China, may be looking at a longer term agricultural yield? When the logical market would be north? The arm wavers always conflate heat as a driver when it really is pressure. And as CO2 is the 0.04% solution to heat, they already have a bit of a bridge too far. Thus the arm waving and hystrionics as a cover for a lack of credance. Expect more temple offerings from taxpayer funds.

So strange things afoot??
The pressure over Greenland broke the model GFS on a recent run....it only recognises up to 1070mb.
There's a large area in the high pressure un designated....the 1070 line stops and the pool within contains no readings 😲
