To show another example of a complex, poorly understood, and somewhat chaotic system, look at: www.google.com/finance?client=ob&q=INDEXDJX:DJIand play with the scale. Any period over 3 months shows a downward trend to the present - but zoom all the way out. There's a giant bubble starting in 1995 that finally burst in 2008. If, in 2007, somehow had pointed to the last 20 years of data, they'd note a strong positive trend with a mild blip around 2002/2003. Want a laugh? Look at the 1970-2000 period. Can you say "hockey stick?" Please note I am not suggesting that CO2 controls the stock market, or even that there is any strong correlation. Nor am I drawing parallels between the Little Ice Age and the 1929 crash, or anything like that.
