Most certainly! The late 1870s show around -0.2 (if you want to cherry-pick, you could get it up to 0.0C) while today shows around 0.4C.

Why do you need people to "bite"? If you know the answer already, then why not say so. Isn't a discussion more informative than a competitive debate? Steve: I posted a link to the graph showing that in the late 1870's, the temp spiked to the current temp of the earth. I was hoping someone would at least acknowledge that the current temps, when viewed over a climatic scale, are not out of the normal. And it would appear that they aren't, on a climatic scale, rather than a weather scale.

What is amazing is how AGW extremists have misled casual and credulous observers by manipulating the axes of the statistical representations of the data. In no case can the alarmists show any significant changes. They can only compress the time axis and dramatically expand the temp axis to make tiny changes in temperature falsely appear to be alarming. Fortunately for rational thought, a growing number of people are seeing through the blatant manipulation of the AGW community. No, trying to deconstruct the skeptics by pretending they are wicked evil subhumans is not going to fly. The basic lie of AGW, that allegations of tiny fractional changes in a huge system are proof an impending apocalypse, is all about playing with the axis. Pretending that alleged changes of ~1o in a system that moves ~100o is laughable on its face. If the AGW social movement was not trying to use such stupid ideas to force ruinous public policy onto the people it would be just another comedy of self-absorbed apocalypse cultists. Instead AGW policies are being implemented in the real world. And they fail each and every time they are tried. They fail for the simple reason they are junk, like the science behind them. No, you've made a mistake. You're talking about the professional sceptics. To illustrate: www.ossfoundation.us/projects/environment/global-warming/myths/christopher-monckton

No, trying to deconstruct the skeptics by pretending they are wicked evil subhumans is not going to fly. You keep accusing the "AGW crowd" and me of doing exactly what you are doing. I haven't said anything about people being wicked evil subhumans. So having accused me of something I haven't done, you then go on to accuse scientists of being liars. Till you get off your soapbox this discussion is going nowhere. Cheers!

Wow, you choose the one line of that whole paragraph to reply to that did not involve answering any questions about science. As maggie said, every woman needs a willie. Are you a wannabe hanson willie or do you dream of being a hockey stick?
