Astromet
You appear to be having problems understanding basic logic
So what? You will not find many scientists in 100% agreement on anything. What's your point?Quite. However, they don't normally use the very same science in their own hypotheses and predictions. Landscheidt's 4-8 year lag was based on an aa index peak in 1990. Fair enough.
You have used the 4-8 year lag to justify your cooling prediction form 2017. Does this mean you think there is currently a geomagnetic aa index peak?
Is this question too difficult for you? Let me put it another way . Wy do we have to wait until 2017 to see cooling when geomagnetic activity began falling after 1990.
I don't see Svalgaard doing any climate/weather forecasting and in the final analysis that is what it all comes down to in the real world. You won't see him doing climate/weather forecasting. He did, however, forecast that the current solar cycle (SC24) would be weaker than recent cycles. He does not forecast climate because he sees very little correlation between solar activity and global temperatures - mainly because there isn't one. He does not say whether he thinks solar activity might affect global weather patterns (I think it might) but this does not affect the mean global temperature appreciably.
Moreover, the late Theodor Landscheidt did forecast and he came to the same conclusions other astrometeorologists have since we use the same astronomic principles in forecasting. And thus far - they've been wrong. I note no-one has remarked on Piers Corbyn's UK blizzard forecast for Jan and Feb. He couldn't have been more wrong.
DuhThat's currently the typical response of the average 10 year old in the UK. Most adults gave this one up about 7-8 years ago. How old are you, Astromet?
Old enough to know better glc. I understand "basic logic" well enough. I am an expert in my field and speak from this expertise. It is not 'theory' with me. It is 'practice' that matters in the end.
Also, Dr. Lanschiedt has been deceased for six years. Perhaps that may have something to do with why he was unable to comment this year on Piers Corbyn's UK blizzard forecast?
The whole point of all climate research is forecasting - that is what everything is all about.
Forecasting as accurately and consistently as possible so as to provide enough lead and preparation time for populations to ready themselves for climate events that can and do alter lives and economic activity.
As I've said before, many of the elderly climate scientists, especially those of the Baby Boomer generation, have been wholly consumed with careerism, rampant ideology and money - ordering ever more expensive super-computers on the public till that cannot forecast next month's weather, much less predict climate conditions years in advance.
Not one of the 22 international climate centers predicted the El Nino/La Nina of 2009-2011. That should tell everything about the current state of climate science/meteorology at present. There are plenty of "theorists" out there, but many of them remain academics, the great majority who never forecast.
When they pretend to do so, it is always with outlandish unfounded claims that the world will "warm forever."
That is pure bunk and they know it, but it has not stopped them from wasting billions of dollars in the process. Totally shameful.
Many earn their livings producing peer-reviewed papers (mainly within their ideological groups) and argue over man-made global warming to death; while outside in the real world - the climate and weather is always busy.
So while it is fine and good for you to sit around and nickel-and-dime argue over climate research - what you do not understand is that in the final analysis everything comes down to forecasting in the real world - that is where the climate and weather produce all action.
I continue to say that for the last 30 years - three entire decades - have been wasted on anthropogenic global warming while scaring the public about planetary warming that is and always has been solar-forced. There is nothing we can do about the Sun.
The time that has been lost cannot be gotten back. And, global cooling, which is much worse than global warming could ever be, is on the way. Astronomic forecasting provides us with certainty the long-range climate to come and global cooling is coming for sure.
Theory is fine, but some of you who argue these matters into the ground just don't get it. Ideology, opinions and arguing matters is a total waste of time.
Debate and discussion is also fine; education is better, but it must never lead to endless bouts of trying to reach consensus on matters of ideology and fighting over such bunk as AGW.
That is a pure waste of time.
The global warming debate is over. It should have never started since it is obvious to anyone with a brain that the Sun forces the Earth's climate.
To argue otherwise is proof certain that any person who maintains that humanity is the cause of global warming is an idiot.
Moreover, I've not seen a single person who backs "man-made global warming" ever forecast seasonal weather accurately, much less yearly.
So how is it possible for them to forecast decades into the future?
It is long past the moment when the time-wasters must to get off the playing field. They've consumed massive resources, perverted climate science, mis-educated children to believe that as carbon-based beings they are responsible for global warming and ruined meteorology to the point that after 30 years it still cannot forecast outside of two weeks.
What has happened is that ideology has produced personal and career attacks, false claims, alteration of weather data, name-calling of 'denialist' and rampant politicizing of climate science and meteorology - all by people who cannot forecast.
Exactly what progress has been made?
Doesn't that seem odd to you?
My prediction is that in a few more years, it will be more than obvious just how much valuable time has been wasted.
Even you will complain glc, that many years were simply thrown away in the AGW debacle after you come to experience the global cooling climate just ahead. And I continue to say that global cooling is so much worse than global warming ever could be. Just wait and see but don't say that you were not warned in advance.
It is in the practical world where everything take place and that means getting down to the business of medium and long-range forecasting.
This is the future and that future is here.
