Oh, boy, here we go again! From Fox: www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/02/08/administration-proposes-new-agency-study-climate-change/ WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration on Monday proposed a new agency to study and report on the changing climate, which has drawn concern among many scientists in recent years.
Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and Jane Lubchenco, head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, announced NOAA will set up the new Climate Service to operate in tandem with NOAA's National Weather Service and National Ocean Service.
"Whether we like it or not, climate change represents a real threat," Locke said Monday at a news conference.
Lubchenco added, "Climate change is real, it's happening now." She said climate information is vital to the wind power industry, coastal community planning, fishermen and fishery managers, farmers and public health officials. ......................
The new agency will initially be led by Thomas Karl, director of the current National Climatic Data Center. The Climate Service will be headquartered in Washington and will have six regional directors across the country.

Well obviously a new Federal agency is needed; its the way the Administration saves money. I presume that the funds will be made up from the funds they are cutting from NASA.
Anyone want to place bets on Hansen or Mann being proposed for the post of Head of the new agency?

I can understand how Obama doesn't have the time to study the science himself and can be manipulated by people like these. I don't excuse or condone his ignorance, but I can understand the process that leads to it. What I can't understand is how a man with the political savvy it took to become POTUS cannot read the writing on the wall enough to see that he might as well hand the next few elections to the Republicans if he's going to dig in on "climate change."
It's a shamea thing of wonder and beauty that all the snow in Washington makes holding outdoor announcements of their global warming initiatives impossible at present.

Actually, such an agency could be valuable, if staffed by genuine seekers of the Truth, and no those following a political agenda.
The Climate has, does & will change (World without end) so any ability to foresee these changes will be valuable.
However, I am sure it will just be another way of employing the unemployable PhD's,( the children of the left), and require another large Jet to fly this mob to every future IPCC discussion

Here's another jewel: The NOAA announcement brought quick praise from Sierra Club President Carl Pope: "As polluters and their allies continue to try and muddy the waters around climate science, the Climate Service will provide easy, direct access to the valuable scientific research undertaken by government scientists and others."

Ah yes climate change and hope it gets warmer, maybe Obama and Lisa Jackson will join in on making decisions based on reality not AGW. Well one can have "hope". "NOAA: Blizzard Rearranges Climate Change Announcement" "NOAA, part of the Department of Commerce, is going to be providing information to individuals and decision-makers through a new NOAA Climate Service office." blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2010/02/08/noaa-blizzard-rearranges-climate-change-announcement/

Not only were the quotes cited in the article idiotic, but the entire article was a climate change puff piece.
The AP touts the worst junk science around - from unquestioning support of climate change to regurgitating nonsense from NGOs like Center for Science in the Public Interest. I doubt if any AP writer has had a science course since ninth grade.

I doubt if any AP writer has had a science course since ninth grade. They don't do even basic research either. I've called them on it before. On a piece done about the Klamath Basin Crisis they claimed no water was delivered because lake levels were too low. Actually lake levels were at record level highs. Water was still cut off. Point being though that one phone call would have confirmed what I said. I called them liars. They did change the way subsequent articles were written though still with a pro environmental angle.

Wasn't it AP that was caught using doctored photos from the mid-east?

More Obama news, wow these people are really experts and really know what is happening. "Agency Will Create National Climate Service to Spur Adaptation " "The proposed entity would provide "user-friendly" information to help governments and businesses adapt to climate change, creating a central federal source of information on everything from projections of sea level rise to maps of the nation's best sites for wind and solar power." www.nytimes.com/cwire/2010/02/09/09climatewire-agency-will-create-national-climate-service-63603.htmlOne stop shop, another catchy phrase. Jane noticed the glaciers but not much else. No skeptics in the room as all present were on the payroll. More tax dollars now focused on AGW agenda very scary.

Another stab to quell the unruly mob that questions the Church. We are descending back into the dark ages. A new Age of Faith. I see it as a way for religion to reassert its total control over science. - A note to the churches that are becoming politically active. Inserting into the political arena can end your independence and the separation of church and state. The state could also tell you what to believe- In 1986 a gathering of the churches came online with this AGW. It is set up and runs like a church. Be sure to stay on message
Evidently Climate One Stop didn't work out so well. Evidently our political leaders can't see the snow falling in Denmark or Washington.
