As we all know, there has been a lot of debate about the effects of the sun and climate change. Is it, or is is not, a real effect. An Argentinian astro-physist has publish studies which show that there is a strong correlation between the river flow of the Parana river in Brazil, and the sunspot numbers. The correlation factor is R=0.78, significant to 99%. There are two link to the publications prl.aps.org/abstract/PRL/v101/i16/e168501and physicsworld.com/cws/article/news/36477I picked up on this in a new BBC series about the Solar System. It is viewable via the BBC iPlayer, but may only be available to the UK. It is about 22 minutes in. An important aspect is that the river flow is periodic, over decades, not the expected 11 year cycle. There were 3 cycles in the past century ( 1904-2003 ). So the data is tantalising. If SSN can correlate with river flow, then that implies that it affects, or even drives, other aspects of the climate. That could be wind, temperate, atmosphere, etc. Are there any other climatic effects known to correlate with SSN?

River flow of the Mississippi acts the same way. So at least in the NA continent and SA continent there is causeation.
