its ok if 200 get trapped by ice and cold its not ok if 1 dies from global warming!

its ok if 200 get trapped by ice and cold its not ok if 1 dies from global warming! No, silly. It is AGW that is causing all of the ice. Don't you pay any attention to the media?

yes I must pay attention to the media. It is my duty to pay attention to the media. I must not question the media. and when the media falls I will be free ;D

‘The new religion of global warming …. is a great story, and a phenomenal best seller. It contains a grain of truth and a mountain of nonsense. And that nonsense could be very damaging indeed. We appear to have entered a new age of unreason, which threatens to be as economically harmful as it is profoundly disquieting. It is from this, above all, that we really do need to save the planet’. Nigel Lawson, p. 106, ‘An Appeal to Reason: A Cool Look at Global Warming’, 2008. nzclimatescience.net/images/PDFs/rmcknockknock.pdfThe IPCC is the United Nations body whose second chairman, John Houghton, wrote in 1994 that ‘unless we announce disasters, no one will listen’. From that point forward, it was obvious that IPCC pronouncements needed to be subjected to independent critical analysis;

'a propagandistic blog about the climate funded by John Lefebvre, a criminal arrested for money laundering, informs us about a lawsuit filed by Danny Bloom, a radical environmentalist activist. In this lawsuit, Bloom claims to represent the "future generations of human beings on Earth - if there are any" and he wants to be personally paid USD 1 billion from those world leaders who are skeptical about the catastrophic climate change. This list is supposed to include politicians as undecided as Stephen Harper of Canada.' motls.blogspot.com/2008/11/icc-ordered-to-steal-usd-1-billion-from.html

>its ok if 200 get trapped by ice and cold its not ok if 1 dies from global warming! ;D Great point twanki, but the AGW crowd would say something like " the summer sea ice mega melt allowed the whales to go further north than normal, and so were too far north to get out before the ice came back! " So much for the 'save the world eco movement'. It's not as if we needed any more evidence it's a sham. But if institutions like WWF had a fraction of the inclination to do 'save the world' stuff like they advertise, they'd go and save those whales. It's easy to cut a line of holes for them. I've seen it done before. The biggest threat to whales is neither cooling or warming. It's us, taking every half arsed excuse going to butcher them. Anyone fancy a whale sandwich?

If that's the last surviving pod of narwhals we may be witnessing a deliberate extinction event..... ;D I'm sure they checked first. ngm.nationalgeographic.com/print/2007/08/hunting-narwhals/hunting-narwhals-textNot a pretty picture - 80-90% of whales shot sink or go away to die, so true annual kill is unknown. Sheesh, we may not be stuffing up the environment with CO2, but we have no reason to be proud of our stewardship of earth at this time!

Hi not sure where to put this post so here will do, i watched a 2 part documentary last night entitled HEAT. The doco began as expected there was the obligitory unproven Nostradamus like predictions of armageddon which is what you would expect as the science is already in. Which was followed by a finger pointing exercise as to why Kyoto was not ratified. In the end the developing countries and the USA agreed to some half arsed emissions targets.
The doco then went on to explain the USA's progress in meeting the emission targets and in summary: Due to bussiness lobbying, political corruption and red tape the US coal industry has done nothing and faces the prospect of being shut down.
The US auto industry is on the brink of collapse and is at least 10 years behind Honda and Toyota in producing an alternatively fueled car.
The idea of turning corn into ethenol as an alternative fuel will go down in the annuls of history as the greatest farce known to man.
Big oil after making record profit after record profit spends only a pittance on R & D on alternatives.
Germany has the wind potential of Idaho, wind energy provides 17% of Germanies power consumption whilst the US combined has less than 0.06% come from wind, the same can be said about solar.
And the list goes on..............................
To be fair to our American cousins i would assume this story would be repeated throughout the developed world which leads me to an obvious question.
If you were the most powerful person in charge of a country and the IPCC shouted from the roof tops that the world was about to end unless we fix it, would you sit around at world meetings and bicker over the fine detail of a plan to save the world and leave the meeting to do nothing for over ten years?
But when the worlds banking system risks going broke you attend a meeting at which within 24 hours there is a unaminous desicion, you then agree to flood the system with cash, cash that has not and never will be available to stop climate change.
As far as i can tell the only logical reason for this is that the politicians themselves do not believe in AGW, to deny it would put them into the flat earth catagory and political suicide.

None of the signatories of Kyoto - repeat NONE of them - have got even close to even stopping the increase in their emissions let alone reducing them. This despite all their finger pointing. China and India - the main recipients of the industry that fled the controls put on them by Europe and the U.S. EPA (which has now decided CO2 is a pollutant ) - are building coal fired power stations at the rate of several a month that would not meet the lowest standards of the 1950's. Witness the smogs before the Olympics. So CO2 has continued inexorably rising - yet - despite all the prognostications at the time of Kyoto, the global temperatures have over the last 8 years plateaued and then dropped. Politicians are extremely good at looking at such numbers - its like one of their campaigns - an advertising theme that worked well suddenly ceases to have impact - so they abandon it. Now they are trying to work out how to get off the AGW bandwagon without looking too bad. Its difficult to support 'global warming' when temperatures are repeatedly hitting record lows. Luckily, there is a way to do that - its the claims (real or not) of peak oil and of the dependence on foreign almost hostile powers for energy. So almost the same rhetoric can be used to stop dependence on foreign oil as is used for AGW. Watch the morphing take place before your very eyes.

Anyone fancy a whale sandwich? agreed - and destruction of habitat but my point remains that anything to do with warming is highlighted n anything to do with cooling is ignored - so what we are witnessing is the freezing public losing faith in the media, politicians and the environmental movement - dont they get it they can scream on TV the world has a fever but when its too cold to go outside what do they think people will think! we seem to live in the age where spin is legitimised and people are treated like fools

The Next head of the EU"Czech President, Vaclav Klaus, an economist, anti-totalitarian and climate change sceptic, prepares to take up the rotating presidency of the European Union next year" www.smh.com.au/news/opinion/miranda-devine/beware-the-church-of-climate-alarm/2008/11/26/1227491635989.htmland in that article: Plimer said there is a division between those scientists who sit in front of super computers and push piles of data into the mathematical models that drive the theory of climate change, and those who take measurements in the field.

"EUROPE is shivering through an extreme cold snap. One of the coldest winters in the US in more than 100 years is toppling meteorological records by the dozen, and the Arctic ice is expanding. Even Australia has been experiencing unseasonable snow. But the stories about global warming have not stopped, not for a second. " www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,24723425-11949,00.html
