You Arn't Kidding DPY!! Here is another article: Climate change gathers steam, say scientists Another one Blamed on Man: Which I do feel has some impact, but not fully responsible.....Sun controls climate more so I believe after following the research of respectful climatologists www.spacedaily.com/2006/081130055637.szeh21pj.html

Interesting news report from Queensland here is an excerpt SCIENTISTS say a white possum native to Queensland’s Daintree forest has become the first mammal to become extinct due to man-made global warming...... The white lemuroid possum, a rare creature found only above 1000m in the mountain forests of far north Queensland, has not been seen for three years. Experts fear climate change is to blame for the disappearance of the highly vulnerable species thanks to a temperature rise of up to 0.8C.... Scientists believe some frog, bug and insects species have also been killed off by climate change. But this would be the first known loss of a mammal and the most significant since the extinction of the Dodo and the Tasmanian Tiger. “It is not looking good,” researcher Steve Williams said. “If they have died out it would be first example of something that has gone extinct purely because of global warming.” Some bery bold statements there the question is what rise in temp before we all die, here is the link for the full story. It is funny to watch/read these "experts" backpeddle when the interviewer is not AGW compliant. co2sceptics.com/news.php?id=2188Cheers

Yeah I saw that article about that possum. Notice there's absolutely no mention of human introduced pests, hunters, or habitat destruction at all, just temperature, as if that's the only pressure a species has to worry about.
Evidently these possums have never had a slight rise in temperature to deal with before. Give. Me. A. Break.

Isn't it possible the possum just went extinct. period. like, maybe some other possum had a slight advantage and beat it to the food, or something.

Or perhaps its not dead, its only resting. The White Lemuroid Possum is known for resting on its back.

Probably its hibernating because of the cold and wet in recent years in Queensland. Possums cant read so they dont know anything about global warming.

"Will there ever be a time when sane people are not having to deconstruct yet another repackaging of Mann's hockey stick, like some endless wack-a-mole game? Mann is back with a new hockey stick and, blow me away with surprise, it looks a heck of a lot like the old hockey stick" www.climate-skeptic.com/2008/11/deconstructing-the-hockey-stick.html

In the News, but the real thing: Victoria, Australia, releases Coastal Strategy document restricting coasal development due to expected climate change www.vcc.vic.gov.au/2008vcs/part2.1climatechange.htmIts all in the fine print, but basically, they will not let you build anymore coastal buildings potentially effected by sea water rise.

Hey Kiwi I submit a lot of applications to Councils in NSW and now were having to consider tsunamis and sea level rise on sites 10km inland and 100m above sea level - its gross stupidity

Another of the global catastrophe stories, this time from Salon.com It starts off cheerfully: ""Dec. 12, 2008 | By now we all know what's in store for us if we continue on our emissions-happy path: increasingly hotter days, horrific droughts and floods, angrier storms, acidic ocean waters that will dissolve coral reefs, and a surging sea level that will swallow our coastal cities. Still, that scenario is a virtual sunny day by the pool compared to the cataclysmic climate picture being drawn by some scientists. Never mind carbon dioxide emissions. Let's talk about the vast stores of carbon hidden deep beneath our feet." Oh god, just when my daily Valium regimen seemed to be working!! The story goes on in more detail and things are really looking grim until we get to this admission: ""In the meantime, panic over methane hydrates is probably premature. "There is a tendency in some quarters to latch on to a catastrophism scenario," she says. "That may sell newspapers, but it may not be the most responsible way to portray the science."" Ah, is there still room for hope? Nope: "If you're the publisher of a sensationalist newspaper, take heart. There's still a good deal to fear when it comes to climate change. "I think the trajectory we're on with CO2 is very likely to lead to droughts that would be destabilizing to civilization. Another thing I worry about is sea-level rise," Archer says. "I think we have plenty to worry about with CO2. We don't need methane hydrates in order to be very reasonably frightened about the future of our climate."" The full story is here: www.salon.com/env/feature/2008/12/12/deep_carbon/index.html
