15 years to find truth? It only needs an adjustment or two. Maybe a little different presentation. Heighten the divides and increase the rage of emotion. "What if they are wrong?" "Scientific revolutions are difficult and traumatic enough without the added inertia of government sponsorship. To put it more bluntly, scientists have difficulty enough admitting that they have egg on their faces. Throw in the Solyndras of the world and the United Nations and the entire anti-capitalist Global Left and the backing out of this theory will be nothing short of a fiasco. Well, the truth of this issue should be apparent within about 15 years. . ." judithcurry.com/2012/02/17/what-if-they-are-wrong/#more-7152

What if they are right? And through our burning of fossil fuels we have or soon will warm the earth past the point of recovery.
The truth should be clearer in 15 years. In the mean time common sense will go along way. Use less energy, properly inflate your tires, carpool if possible, drive a vehicle that gets better mileage.

I wonder if all of the world's financial crisis should be laid at AGW's door. Such huge waste of capital with absolutely no return. It has been done to the global engines that provide the wealth for everyone. I suspect only world war is more wasteful.

CO2 is a greenhouse gas, no question about this.
However, the predominance of LOUD voices only talks about CO2. They want to ignore the effects of the sun on hydro cycles, which affects the clouds, radiation, etc. And these cycles are not predictable, with our present understandings.
They are predictable to the extent of using historical observations, and there does appear to be a cycle in them.
The paleo link has a few papers that discuss this, at least on a regional basis. NASA had a paper showing the Nile a few years ago, and there have been studies on the Mississippi that confirm this correlation.
The models are trying to show what long term CO2 does as a driver, but they are very VERY poor at incorporating other known forcings. And this is really sad, because of the huge intent on trying to blame CO2 for everything is resulting in loss of time, thoughts, etc looking at the WHOLE climtate picture.

sig a quick look at the link. ???0.50±0.43 Wm−2??? at one end .07 Wm-2 from the model and satellite combo. Really?

trbixler: Yes, really. I will have this paper in my hands tonight to read if I get time. Seems I was born on this day and my family thinks they need a party or some such foolishness....

Without any research I wonder what the heat loss from a hurricane is and if that loss is included in the linked paper. Ever look at the ocean heat maps hurricane path after the hurricane has passed. Very dramatic. Then think of convection dumping that heat into the upper atmosphere and into space. Then think of .07 Wm-2. Think capture the dynamic. Not easy. So in my opinion maybe 0 stored.

trbixler: This paper may only add to your confussion, as it has found the imbalance of radiation to be smaller than Hansen or Trenbeth:
So did we miss out on the "fire the bastuds" outburst or something?
