So last night I put a temp data logger outside. This weather is supposed to last through next week, putting the entire month of February in the record books. I missed the forecast by 4 degrees....too warm. Also, the Great Lakes ice are at their highest since records began in the early 70's. Amazing how global warming works. Oh, and Graywolf, please don't bother saying it's just local; the Great Lakes have been a big ZERO for AGW prognosticators who told us 25 years ago they'd be drying up and winters would get warmer. That translates into less ice. What should happen now is Michigan gets a very warm summer. I'm looking forward to it. This is peanuts to ND and MN, but funny it's actually much colder in MI.

There is a definite east to west temperature gradient this winter. February in central Missouri has been 3.7 degrees warmer than Lexington KY (-7.4 D < normal versus -11.1 D < normal), about 400 miles due east, and 3.9 degrees colder than Manhatten KS, about 250 miles due west of us. They were only -3.5 degrees below normal. There were similar results for Nov., Dec. and jan. although we were above normal for Dec. and Jan.

I thought the unseasonal early snows were 'lake effect' snow from overheated lakes? Should feb post another 'above average' global month it will be 30 yrs of above average months? 30yrs is a period we use when looking at climate so what does this latest 30yrs tell us about ours?
Well seeing as you now need to be over 30yrs of age to have ever witnessed a 'below average month' I'd hazard a guess at 'warming'?
Oddly this 'warming period' covers both a portion of the augmented warming years and all of the alleged 'hiatus' years???
With PDO looking very positive I'd guess we're in for the 14 month straight of PDO positive...... anyone willing to call it yet?.......

"Overheated lakes?" Really? The Great Lakes had above average ice cover last year, and this summer was cool, so they never warmed to their summer averages, melt alone got "overheated." I'd hazard a guess at warming as well, some of which is attributable to anthropogenic emissions. We also appear to be at the top of several natural climate cycles which cause warming as well. Still, none of your, and few dire predictions of CAGW alarmists generally have panned out. Temperatures keep getting adjusted to show warming. More and more failure doomed predictions are made. You are hinting at one over at the Arctic Ice page. Tell you what. I'll take myself out of the gene pool if there is a record low Arctic ice pack extent this summer. I've grown too old and crotchety to put up with misanthropic doomsayers like you anyway.

Winter Wrap-Up for Columbia, Mo WINTER ENDED TODAY -The birds knew it two weeks ago. Nothing but 50s and 60s being forecast for 10 days out. I'm being optimistic. Overall, meteorological winter was 2 deg F below the 20-year normal, but right on the 125-year normal. December and January were above normal and February was well below. We were lucky, being on the western edge of the jet stream loop. My comparison city 400 miles east, Lexington KY, got creamed ... 11.2 deg F below the 20-year normal. Last year, we were 16.4 deg. F below the 20-year normal ... so, for us, Astro was right ... a milder winter, and an early Spring ... if it holds.

The problem, Sig, is that your link is not to an image, but to a page. If, when you are at that page, click the right button on the image, you can choose in the emerging list the " copy image URL" option (or something similar; I use Spanish language) and THAT is the link that you must use. Sig your basic problem is you are copying the page URL rather than the image URL. Hrizzo's advice is correct for Google Chrome. Some browsers operate differently, like under Microsoft Internet Explorer you have to click on "properties" after right clicking the image to find a URL that will work. I am not familiar with all the browsers but basically you need to find a URLthat is associated with the image that ends with an "image file extension", like .jpg or .png or .gif or .bmp. then after copying it into your post editor you need to highlight it and apply the HTML to it in order for it to display. Thats the like "picture" icon up on the editing bar which applies the HTML in two clicks to whatever you have highlighted in the post editor.

Using the picture icon, the BBCode created should look something like this: [img alt=" " src="http://resources0.news.com.au/images/2015/03/09/1227254/481556-dc3ee646-c3c7-11e4-bdbb-25549bb81a95.jpg" style="max-width:100%;"] .... which produces:

Shame we're not seeing the same around the coasts of bering/okhotsk......... maybe sea ice would make over 14 million then instead of being both the lowest recorded for the time of year and the only year not to break 14 million by winters end?
Still, winter appears over in the UK and March is coming in like a Lion so I expect it to be a fine end of the month as it goes out like a Lamb......
Nino Years are never that sparkling here but with the whole of the world oceans looking to dump heat into the global atmosphere maybe we'll fare better? A cross between 76'/03 and 06' will do nicely!
