The 2-Deg Global-Warming LimitBob Tisdale / 19 hours ago December 16, 2014 Guest Post by Bob Tisdale Politicians from around the globe gather annually in the UNFCCC meetings so they can propose and fail to come to worthwhile agreements on how to limit global warming and its impacts. Year in, year out, same thing. For the results of the most recent failed gathering, see the WattsUpWithThat post GWPF Welcomes Non-Binding And Toothless UN Climate Deal. One of the primary factors that drive the politicians is an attempt to limit global warming to 2-deg C above preindustrial values, where preindustrial is considered the mid-to-late 1800s. But where did that 2 deg C limit come from? ~snip~ wattsupwiththat.com/2014/12/16/the-2-deg-global-warming-limit/

maybe the way forward is to embrace this 2C limit.
As a very weak warmist i believe we have achieved that target already and as such it also embraces the concept of climate change because it is climate changing.
clearly sane usage of energy is good logic and as a member of the oil and gas industry my instinct is that output will struggle to lift much from where we are now without lifting oil prices above $100/BBL.
for the world to go much past 100MMBBL/day is difficult also politically, in spite of shale oil and massive number of continental shelf discoveries the daunting reality is that a discovery of 100MMLBBL is a "big find" anywhere and we need to find one every day and that includes the weekends! the big reserves are still locked in states who have different drivers to the West. Coal is kind of out of fashion so CO2 will top out as cars become clean low usage and world population tops out. and who knows it may even get colder due to one or other cyclical process.
my big issue is when will it become clear to the people that they have been sold a much hyped story. probably a PDO impacted cooling of a half degree or more will push the world into a new consciousness.
come in Astro we need you to be at least partially right.

The problem with embracing any CO2 regulation is the increase in government control and centralization which is the goal in the AGW push in the first place.

I am puzzled how it is possible that global ice extent has risen to over 1 std deviation from the 30 year mean if we currently have a life or death temperature crisis.

Acidohm they don't mention it much though.
Is this a case of propaganda by omission.
