I vote for Chris. I think all NOAA / NASA scientists should be forced to wear 'those diaper things' when they call a new temperature-record thingy. Gives the appropriate weighting to their pronouncements.

Careful of what one prays for!!! "In 1861, farmers and ranchers were praying for rain after two exceptionally dry decades. In December their prayers were answered with a vengeance ..." Probably Baptists! Methodists might have gotten a more subdued response. Of course, no data on what SSTs were like back then???

Increased cooler waters appearing in east .....is this a sign the heat is being lost?? Also the cooler 'blob' in the west is appearing over the horizon.

There are the 'canned' projections, but if I want a specific view of the planet, how is that done? Can you share any tips, tricks, info or source that might help? Thanks!

There is an 'earth' icon bottom left, click and all will be revealed. ...There are 100 options! On pc, mouse left click hold changes orientation. ..roll centre scroll to zoom On tablet/phone simple to orientate but my s5 hates to zoom. ... Anyone how frequents this site, try clicking on wind speeds at different altitudes...start at surface and work way up.....mind blowing! !! (Pun not intended but noticed )

Increased cooling in east, extensive even since yesterday. My uneducated and untrained opinion is this EL NIno is in decay. There is no heat in the west to feed it and what heat is in the east is now rapidly dissipating.......Its only a matter of time before NOAA, BOM etc lower their % chance of this lasting till winter. Was it ever really an EL Nino?? www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/data/indices/sstoi.indices 1+2 3 4 3.4 2015 4 26.95 1.35 28.17 0.67 29.73 1.23 28.56 0.78 2015 5 26.71 2.43 28.28 1.19 29.88 1.09 28.88 1.03 2015 6 25.42 2.54 28.10 1.66 29.93 1.09 28.96 1.32 2015 7 24.48 2.87 27.79 2.17 29.80 1.00 28.82 1.60 Even the NOAA data shows cooling in all regions from june to july...some of the anomalously cool areas in the current SSTA are right inside regions 1+2 and 3 I'll take the NOAA and BOM 80% chance this will last through to next spring, and suggest there is an 80% chance it will not last till november.....

Acidohm, you should know it's going to last till at least 30 Nov 2015 when it will produce a super something hovering over the delegates. You do know that, don't you?

I see what your saying Ratty!! ......i must admit, i'm not very political, i cant really say i fully understand the implications of this november thingy beyond feeling irritated that what is plain in front of ones eyes is ignored and a alternate incorrect idea is promoted and feared because it has been the status quo from an era when they didnt know any better and now its agenda suits people Its is becoming increasingly ironic as their agenda may be unveiled as the SSTA are showing EL Nino is dying (i think...time will tell) and as N Atlantic SSTA continue to decrease.....all the signs are early winter for Paris.
