What’s your view? Evaluating controversial scientific findings We would like to invite you to participate in a new study conducted by Sara Prot and her team from Iowa State University. We are interested in understanding how members of the public evaluate scientific findings on controversial topics (such as climate change, safety of vaccinations, violent video game effects, capital punishment etc.). Here is the link to the study: iastatepsychhci.az1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_4HmiMdja8ZiVeyFThis is an online study that will take approximately 5 minutes of your time. Thanks again and if you have any questions, please contact Sara Prot at 294-2335 or sprot@iastate.edu or Dr. Kevin Blankenship at kevinb1@iastate.edu.

Thank you for the invitation. The study you cited expressed poor methodology. It is difficult to express credible opinion when the question posed was about a paper the current science in no way expresses.

I went through the questions. You led us there thinking we were going there to do a survey on scientific findings. There was only one study even cited, and I really do not see what the other questions had to do with that study. There was not enough information to evaluate the study, and we were asked to form an opinion. that study touched only one of the areas you said you were evaluating. What do you think you will learn from this?
Personally, I think it is much like one of the language surveys that used to come home with out kids - those were flawed in such fundamental ways that it was impossible to give an answer reflecting reality. It was as if the survey was written based on what the assumptions were before-hand, and so the only possible outcomes were one of the outcomes that were pre-concieved. If the reality doesn't fit one of those possible outcomes, though, then you come up with an answer you can call "scientific" that isn't within the realm of reality.

I am guessing Sarap was registered here using a bot and nobody is listening for answers.

I am guessing new user 'Sarap' was registered here using a bot and nobody is listening here for answers, other than what gets entered into the survey elsewhere.

I am guessing that in a few days someone is going to get in touch with her and direct her back to this page.

I've stopped guessing: I found I was wrong most of the time.
I guess I could take up climate science and be right all the time, I guess.

That seems to be pretty telling. Climate change action doesn't seem to be very high on anybody's list of priorities.
