Merry Christmas everyone. Seems we are in for a snow, so might be Tuesday before we meet as a family.

Don't have access to my databases and charts on this computer ... but note the location of 1896 and 1920 on the following graph posted before. Both years appear to be coincident with low geomagnetic periods ... the first dropping into the 1900 solar low, and the last coming out of it. Longitudinal flow? ? Wow ... 15C is like a mean summer temperature. The world turned upside down. And 20 years before, the coldest Christmas day in 1878 ... also a solar low.

Listening to the wind howl outside. Temps droping as the snow releases its heat. Will see how big the drifts are tomorrow as suppose to last through afternoon now.
So far no power outage. Generator ready in case tho. Something about the wife being a lot happier in a warm house!
During Blizzard Hannah in late winter of 97 I was the only farm around with power. Took my generator to a neighbor's place that was down to 33F. Lucky I had a mechanical front drive tractor on generator as some healthy drifts.
Another day on the Tundra at present.

It appears that the record wasn't broken, highest reported was 15.1c (59f) at Dyce, Aberdeen. So 1896 and 1920 at 15.6c (60f) still lead for another year.

OH NO!!!!!!! Rain............50 year event............
What? The potential is for this to happen at least once in a 50 year time frame?
Why weren't all the roads built up to 50M above ground level? The insanity of not preparing for rain!!!
Just think.......if they start construction now...........they will be ready for another 50 year event in approx 50 years!

ABC radio is breathlessly calling it a one-in-150-year event ...... I'm starting to get worried.

Lucky bugger Ratty! You are alive during a 50 or 150 year event!
Imagine...........if you didn't live so long.........you would never have been able to observe this happening!
Ok.......enough foolishness.
It rained, it rained a lot. It has happened before, it will happen again.

Sig, this one is so bad, it could wash out the test cricket match between Australia & Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Very unprecedented (and sad).
