No, far from fluff. One of the serious potential problems today is what would happen in the event of an EMP. Whether from the sun or nuclear origin.
Where I worked when I was in the Military had protection from an EMP. I don't know if the cloud based servers are stored in a structure that would shield them.
I do know home computers, hard drives, memory sticks etc would all be toasted.
And they wouldn't have to be plugged in to be toasted, as it isn't the electrical surge in power lines that would kill them altho that would most assuredly happen.
Let's just say............the outcome would be to live like my Grandparents did. I could do that, but folks in cities......holy crap. I think the result would look like the "Walking Dead" show, except, the field would involve people with very similar skill sets. You wouldn't be able to "outrun" or such those after you easily. And by you, I mean food stocks, medical supplies etc.
