[ Snip ] This is a European experience rather then US in afraid, apologies to all those across the pond, , or on the other side of the planet 😉 No need to apologise, Acid. It's always interesting to see what's happening on the other side. Did you see that the Aussie women cricketers won an exciting match ** against the English girls in Brisbane, just up the road from me? ** YES, North America, cricket can be exciting. Exciting can be relative. It appears that not many in the US can envisage maintaining excitement for a 5 day test match. The nuances of a close in field with a silly mid-on are lost on the spectators over here. But they do get unduly excited watching rounders

Try to be serious, Missiouri! Cricket is the sport they play in Heaven. Between hymns right? It'll take at least half an eternity just to get the 'lingo' down. www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/story/239756.htmlI think most Americans would prefer the Pope and Martin Luther with short swords in the arena.

Some of us think baseball is exciting. Yep, but it's compressed excitement. Think Big bang Theory cf. War & Peace

This is a list of the 25 wettest septembers in the UK since about 1900 (not exactly sure, I have asked...) 18 25 28 36 45 46 50 54 57 58 62 65 67 74 75 76 81 82 83 84 92 95 99 2000 2017. Notice the concentration of these during the '40-'70 cooling period. Also note every one of our record winter follows one of these dates. A re-analysis of 500mbr pressures for December to February from these years produces an average scenario with a strong cold signal. This is a European experience rather then US in afraid, apologies to all those across the pond, , or on the other side of the planet 😉 Data questions ... Monthly precipitation data source? 500 mb pressure re-analysis data source? What happened in September 2009?  www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/uk/summaries/datasetsPrecip records

Thanks Acid. This time I bookmarked it. Did ya find the jma re-analysis tool?? It's really potent for historic atmospheric set-up and comparing. It basically averages any dates you give it and produced a graphic. Not used it myself but have seen it used alot, good for revealing trends....

Still looking ... found this, but pretty sure this isn't it. In Weather-2017 Feb. www.wetterzentrale.de/reanalysis.php?map=1&model=cfsr&var=1&jaar=1979&maand=2&dag=12&h=0&nmaps=64and this one goes back to 1877 ... but no tool. I hate it when I misplace things.

www.natice.noaa.gov/pub/ims/ims_gif/DATA/cursnow_asiaeurope.gifSnow has surged westwards last couple of days. Ophelia really bought alot of heat up with it and a strong snow cover expansion got halted in its tracks, lingering effects from this seem now to have dissipated.... UK forecast gaining confidence for a northerly next week, might end a pretty long tract of warmer then average temps.
