Q: concerning PDO and AMO... is there ANY thorough empirical evidence showing how much is "turning" "exchange" "relocation" or whatever, VERSUS how much is actual overall sea temperature change?
Put another way: what thorough random temperature sampling is there of seas?
Put another way: does anyone on planet earth actually know (or pretends to know) the overall average sea temps?
Or is it all based on surface temps, sea ice, sea levels, etc and speculation is made thereof?

There is a huge effort to measure the Ocean Heat Content and the thermohaline currents and Sea Surface Temperatures. Several thousand floats, buoys and robot subs have been released into the oceans - under the name 'ARGO' - see" www.argo.ucsd.edu/There has been some controversy on the accuracy of the temperatures reported and the 'corrections' have (as one expects these days) moved the temperatures closer to those expected by AGW. Unfortunately, though these floats are still showing that the Ocean Heat Content is slowly dropping. This should not be happening if AGW hypotheses are correct.

Well, I guess being that ARGO was commenced in 2000, any "adjustments" which would intentionally be made to substantiate AWG would have been in the DOWNWARD direction, in order that future temps would trend upward. Thanks for the info. Though I frequent this site, I guess "ARGO" went right past me.
