While the hurricane gets 'torn apart' - the jetstream isn't in much of a good consistent condition either. What I see is how much energy there is wrapped up in the extra-tropical (not driven by convection so much) hurricane. It is sufficient energy in the weakening hurricane to completely destroy the flow of the jetstream.

This is right where I want to be. In the middle of the cone o' death three days out! It's almost certain it won't come here.

Currently looks more like something for the 9th Ward of NOLA could be a little difficult as they have no barrier islands it will also stress test the surge barrier.

Last words of General John Sedgwick, killed at Spotsylvania, after being warmed by his soldiers that there were snipers out there. “They couldn’t hit an elephant at this distance.”

Looks like the center will come ashore south of NOLA - it is unlikely to get to a major hurricane as the GOMEX is not warm enough but it is a BIG weather system and as can be seen the NW quadrant winds and rain will be towards Mr Phydeaux's patio. Indeed I suspect that outer bands could be arriving on the Mississippi coastline later tomorrow

The Ninth Ward gets it this time - without many barrier islands left may not be good.
