There is always a problem with a political bandwagon. As soon as the group on the bandwagon approaches a majority there can be more political capital to be gained by leaping off it and being 'independent'. As soon as one politician leaps - then lemming like the rest of the politicians will follow. At which point they start looking for another bandwagon.
