Actually, you're way out of date. We've had 9 years of warming of +0.12C betwen 1999 and 2008The trend for the past 9 years has been up. Actually the most recent 9 years is not upwards but downwards. July 1, 1999 to June 30, 2009 has a downward trend for the past 10 years. Moving it up to 9 years doesn't change it. Icefisher: You of all people should know that a downward trend is really an upward trend as all the noise indicates that. You just ignore the bass in that noise.........those low notes ya know? On a climatic scale, the warming since the LIA quit cooling and started warming is nothing at all out of the ordinary climatically. All the folks on here that want to look at weather, rather than climate, can say it is warming sooo fast and the boody man is coming out from under the bed. HOWEVER: The boogy man may very well be a damn cold one. The GCM's can't seem to agree on why the jet has not moved to the normal summer trajectory, at least over the US. Us poor folks in the northern plains and Canada are not experiencing summer. While that is weather, when looking at local climatology, it has not warmed significantly here in over 100 years. Now that is the part I don't get.

Sunlight looks dim to me in Rhode Island where I'm staying for the month, in particular seen on tree leaves, which I suspect is a result of volcanic ash. Anyone at this or higher latitudes seeing the same thing?
Very cool here...

I was in Portland, Oregon this Friday. It was cold.
It is colder in Calgary, Alberta.
High today is 53F, low over night is 50F. I just turned the heat on. This exceptionally cold for this time of year. People have and use air conditioning here.

We can only hope this cold moves before fall arrives this year or else a lot of crop will be lost. This cooling is serioius business.
