Well they've gone for a mild one again, given their recent record you'd have thought that they might have erred on the side of caution!
2007-2008 average 2008-2009 Colder than average.
Also this Summer in the UK was supposed to be a "Barbecue Summer" here in the UK (maybe the Met Office have Barbecues inside) ;D
So what is the chance they'll get this one right?
;D

Well... If you say that it is going to be a mild winter every winter, you gone be correct some time. Given that we have an El Nino brewing that is going to affect the winter so... They can get it correct. This time.
On the other hand we got a sunspot minimum so there is also a strong chance for it to be cold.
I would not dare to make a prediction.

I had to search a long time, but I have finally located a photo of the Met O personnel hard at work:

Well they've gone for a mild one again, given their recent record you'd have thought that they might have erred on the side of caution! ;D well i am old enough to have done school work experiance at the old met offices in Dunstable in the 1960s, long before there move from Bracknell to their posh Exeter residence then they worked with " experiance and paper" not unthinking computors. following alogrythms models i still use what i learnt there on weather to predict days off for my holidays , this year, it just does not work---springtide, moon phases, past averages etc so something is up....maunder???

I've never seen such a negative trend in Summer and the Jetstream is over the UK for the third summer running!

The BBC is now pointing out that the Met office have got the last three Summers wrong. All average or below average ;D
Given the close links between the BBC and the Met Office this is quite something!
So they get Summer and Winter predictions wrong, quite a consistent record!
So whatever they predict expect the opposite ;D
So a cold Winter this year then!

i almost threw something at the television when the spokesperson for the Met office, justfied their Barbeque Summer proficey in that there had been two days in june above 32c ( south East England only) and they had set up the heatwave alert for the goverment.....
ie due to their barbeque summer forcast, the goverment got scared...otherwise, it would have just been a TWO hot days in june days..and 28 days below 18c/20c..in bournemouth were i was working 80 miles south, when it was 30+ in london it was 19c....too cold to sunbath on the beach
