I may have known this once, but had totally forgotten. And as part of the warming thing, people keep talking about the ocean warming and thus expanding......wellllllllll.........they ARE WRONG. Here is a link that is worth a read. www.physorg.com/news167040410.htmlAnother lie on the AGW side that I missed?

My old memory recalls that water gains density to a maximum around 34oF. When the ice forms at 32o and less, the geometry of the ice crystals take up more space. The article you linked to seems like it is credible, but I do not trust articles any longer that do not link or reference to actual data, or verifiable references. Otherwise, it is easy to have something read like an AGW paper.

Upon more research, I find what I thought I knew.
Water expands below 38F.....above 38F it also expands.
Tiz all related to the temp, and at least I am NOT losing my mind..........phewwwwwwwwww.

Oh, cr@p. Now we have to keep the oceans at precisely 38*F in order to maintain all that valuable beach front property? Bummer. That's gonna be really hard to do. Maybe we should start a ocean temperature credits scheme like the carbon credit thing.

Lad........what a GREAT idea!
Now, we can leave it to Waxman to figure out how to activate that ........ahem..........credit part?
(Throw in an ice cube and get a $50.00 credit.....sounds good to me!

Maybe we can swap ice cube credits for charcoal briquet credits, 1 for 1. Hard to bbq with ice. Could be quite a futures market. I can picture the traders sweating over the ice profits melting away as the briquet holdings go up in smoke.

I know once everyone gets this hot tip that the market will overflow with orders. I think it will really heat up once Waxman lights a fire in Congress to take advantage of the expanding ice market. I just hope it doesn't result in another black Tuesday. I am sure Waxman will proclaim, using smoke and mirrors, that the control of the new market will be revenue neutral and not cost anyone anything. I have also heard through the grapevine that some are getting cold feet on this idea.

Might be a good time to get into frozen real estate. Ice mining could be really profitable. Especially since it is a renewable resource. Chip off a few bergs, make some cash and help save the planet. I'm in. Now to convince Big Al to front some venture capital. Shouldn't be too hard. Fits right in with his other endeavors.

He is quit the salesman. Anyone who can convice someone that co2 is a pollutant when it is required for life forms to survive.....and then try to tax it to boot. Damn.....that man is GOOD!!!!!!! I was thinking more along the lines of Arctic Ice. Ya see, we could let the market float then.....rather than have it at a fixed rate. I can see that float market expanding and increasing profits...... And as an added incentive, I would throw in a polar bear with each sale. Buy prime ice, and save the bears.......Hey......I think I am onnnnnn to something. And to top it off......I guaranteeeeeee good sailing weather! (On Aug 2nd and 3rd)
