Has anyone else had the chance to start reading the Boxer/Kerry bill on climate change?
IF you are a US citizen, I suggest you read it. IF you don't want to read it, then at least write your Senators and tell them what a horrendous bill this is!

Unfortunately I reside in Nevada. Harry Reid wont listen, in fact he wont even respond to me with a form letter anymore. Dina Titus already voted in favor of the House version HR 2454. The only one's who are against this is John Ensign (Senate) and Dean Heller (HR) Here is the link for the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act in a pdf format. Be advised, it's 821 pages in length. www.eenews.net/public/25/12592/features/documents/2009/09/30/document_gw_07.pdf

And from 'The Hockey Stick is Back' thread - this appears to be all on the basis of a single tree with the 'right' rings to push things to look like an emerging exponential temperature rise.

At some point, a large percentage of the population will become angry enough about this and the other assaults on the Constitution and their liberty, that they will resort to whatever means are necessary to put a halt to it. The current administration, however, will in turn defend itself by whatever means it deems necessary to restore order and retain power. As much as people claim to abhor violence, history tells us that unless one side submits to the will of the other, violence is the likely outcome. Given the current administrations attitude and actions, I find it difficult to believe they will give up without forcing the issue to it's ultimate conclusion; that being ever more repression and consolidation of power. The excuses for that are entirely predictable and will take the form of actions to protect the country and it's citizens from "internal radical elements" and ensure "Continuity of Government".
The feedback loop has been established........

The feedback loop has been established........ The AGW community is going to push more, not less, to get their big policy demands through, now that real holes in their claims are growing plain to see. It has always been the policy, not the science, that the AGW community has been after.

Indeed - and as that is the case - any of curiousgeorge's angry attacks will be taken as a reason to impose even more draconian legislation. Exactly so. That is the nature of a feedback loop is it not? Bear in mind that the "official" ( and lawful ) line of succession for the Presidency, and thus the Continuity of Govt. was first secretly bypassed during the Reagan administration (Oliver North knows something about this ), and that the practice has continued to this day. It would be interesting to know how an emergency plan set up to ensure CoG in the event DC was nuked back then, has since been (I would expect ) modified or expanded to cover other eventualities that threaten an administration. Might the current infatuation with Czars be an indication?

Hunter, perhaps I should have used another word besides "bypassed", such as "enhanced" or something. However, the logic is this: In the event that a catastrophic attack eliminated the entire line of succession as laid out by the Constitution, there would still be a need to provide leadership and functioning of the Government. Therefore each Branch and Dept. is charged with establishing a CoG plan which includes identifying unelected officials to carry out necessary tasks and business until such time as Constitutional Government can be restored. There are many laws on the books describing the process, many of which are classified and not available to the public. You may wish to research the issue in depth, however, so here's a starting point - www.continuityofgovernment.org/ . Here is one of the many reports on the subject. www.continuityofgovernment.org/SecondReport.pdf . As you will note it is not a simple thing to figure out.

And nothing on Col. North. I fail to see the connection between this and the scam of AGW.

Further research on the subject is up to you. If we get very far past the VP, we are in a world of hurt. I think those explorations are not appropriate to a blog that is doing a great job of discussing the AGW hype infesting our society.

I think those explorations are not appropriate to a blog that is doing a great job of discussing the AGW hype infesting our society. I won't disagree regarding approriateness to this blog. I'm one of those who tends not to see things in isolation from other events, and as a result I occasionally get a bit off the beaten path. However, I would encourage you to explore the less obvious ramifications of the "AGW hype" at your leisure. And with that, I'll not comment further on the subject. Have nice day.
