Perhaps what the Eastern Seaboard is now experiencing may be "ground truth". At any rate, I must get back to shoveling record snow off the driveway. I think of it as "boots on the ground". ;D

The trick wasn't to "hide the decline in global temperatures". It was to hide the decline (or divergence from observed measurements) in the reconstructions. It is the reconstructions that are the problem. It means they cannot be relied upon to provide a measure of past climate. No, the trick wasn't to "hide the decline in global temperatures". The trick was to hide that fact that the whole study was a dishonest attempt to “get rid of” the Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice Age to make recent warming look like something unusual.

That's more or less what I said.

Isn't that in effect hiding the decline from the MWP to the LIA?

"Climategate: … And Just Like That, the Warming’s Gone (PJM Exclusive)" The complete trifecta won by corruption and lies. All it took was a little team work! ( Great idea Hillery and Obama pledging 100 billion to seal the deal based on fraud, such talent ) "There indeed has been man-made global warming — but it’s from the paint-by-numbers men and women at NOAA, NASA, and Hadley … and now, just like that, it’s gone." pajamasmedia.com/blog/daleo-and-just-like-that-the-warmings-gone-pjm-exclusive/2/

I have not seen anyone ask the question "Why were 'the team' doing this" If their research was showing so unequivocally that there was AGW why the subterfuge? Why the warped statistics - the discard of measurement stations - the malicious deletions and editing of Wikipedia?

I have not seen anyone ask the question "Why were 'the team' doing this" "The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." [H. L. Mencken]

Well if the IPCC members are making huge amounts of money from 'the threat of AGW' they cannot be expected to be honest about their research. And this has indeed been borne out by events. It also explains the absolute hostility to Svensmark and other scientists actually carrying out real scientific research. In many industries such a lack of ethics would be grounds for immediate termination. It is however accepted as the norm in climatology and even defended.

AGW was never about climate or environmentalism. It was and always will be about control of energy markets and thus profits. It is a political game being played on a global scale.

I could use a little help here, cuz for the life of me, I just couldn't find a single thread to suggest even a wisp of conflict of interest. All I could tell was he was putting our money where his mouth is...... Dr Pachauri, chairman of the UN IPCC, is director-general of the TATA Energy Research Institute which is funded by TATA. Just like Al Gore, he is personally invested in carbon indulgences. Meanwhile TATA Steel bought Teesside Steelworks in England, is closing it, putting 1,700 people out of work, to receive £600,000,000 in EU Carbon allowances in order to expand steel production in India using carbon handouts to make plants as efficient as the one they closed in England. I see a bit of conflict of interest here. Insider trading? Using his position in the UN to promote the interests of the company that employs him? This is the kind of thing that they put people in jail for in the U. S. (unless they are part of the Obama administration).

Right v. Left is false opposition anyway if you ask me. They are both the same.
