A major eruption will just aggravate global cooling. Of course the warmers will use this as an excuse for the cooling they couldn't predict. And it won't matter that it was cooling prior to the eruption.

It's not an excuse, it's an "Algoreithm!!". (see the discussion on Algoreithm)

Is the volcano at a latitude that would have global effects if its eruption were strong enough?

Is the volcano at a latitude that would have global effects if its eruption were strong enough? Yes, but the experts seem to be saying that it is likely to be less explosive than Pinatubo.

Generally if an eruption is powerful enough to cause significant cooling...you worry more about the eruption its self.

So Steve, could it be possible that experts in volcanology have established a track record of predictability that equals or perhaps rivals that of climate science?

Or, perhaps, greatly exceeds?

Has anyone been paying attention to solar activity with this? I was looking at the solar flares last week, and it seemed like every time a high B or low C happened, 5-10 mins later, Google reported and increased activity in ash columns, and since the flares stopped, the volcano has been quite, filling up with magma. Could be a coincidence. If anyone else is following this, maybe the next C flare would cause it to erupt???

So Steve, could it be possible that experts in volcanology have established a track record of predictability that equals or perhaps rivals that of climate science? You are being alarmist!
