Here in the English west midlands we look out for the first flowering Coltsfoot plants as a sign of spring. I noticed yesterday, they are just starting to pop up out of the ground but I think it will need a few warm sunny days to bring them into flower. It looks as though they could be early this year. (Sorry Byz for hijacking your threads.) Got my first flowering Coltsfoot yesterday which is earlier than average (over 38 years, average is the 14th February). Some Blackthorn in flower also. Today we're back to winter with and inch and a half of snow and it's still snowing.

It may not like our climate. We have to wait for crocus.
