Well this is a thread i always kinda thought about.
Im concerned with the future of our solar system due to its environment. Its quite a complicated one : ). I want to know a few things from all you educated people that muddle through these forums. Ive been noticing in some recent articles i ran into in astronomy magazines the thought process on star formation and their journeys through their many rotations around the galaxy. Anyone have any thoughts on a good outlook i read about that says the paths of stars and their birth neighbors vary wildly and after formations the "packs" break up quite significantly. Specfically i want to know what we have floated through in the last 10-15 galactic rotations and what our neighboring stars have floated through in their roations. These answers would give an amazing understanding of where we came from and the dangers of where we and our neighbors are headed.
Also im curious to know not only how many nearby (2m lightyears - 25m lighyears) Galaxies SMBH are pointed directly at our galaxy. Then id like to know about our SMBH Sag. A. .... its several dozen thousand light years away ... so what could we look for to know if its close to feeding and erupting? do we look for super novas? or will it just appear one day since it might be possible it already started erupting thousands of years ago and the light just hasnt reached us yet? : ) thanks.
