. Since the diameter of Venus is pretty steady , is there some use in observing the fluctuation of the shadow either for the sun signal or the venus atmosphere itself

Since this site uses the N0NBH feed, it is impossible for them to be different. Try reloading, you may be looking at a cached page. It is possible and happens quite often... I understand what you mentioned about reloading the web page. I do that whenever I see a difference from the N0NBH number, but I still see higher solar flux numbers on the solar ham site (more often than not).

Since the diameter of Venus is pretty steady , is there some use in observing the fluctuation of the shadow either for the sun signal or the venus atmosphere itself If you're referring to the fluctuations of the planetary disk in the Nobeyama movie (on the previous page), be advised that those are artifacts caused by the low 'pixel' resolution of the RF imager. But yes, a lot was learned from watching Venus's atmosphere during its transit, including new estimates of the planet's temperature: news.discovery.com/space/probing-venus-atmosphere-during-the-transit-120604.html

Sorry guys but I find this very funny...... The way they count the sunspots and grasping to any little dot, just to make the trend look better but.......it's getting colder!!!!!

Cycle is looking to fall squarely in the "low cycle" group. Of course it could go anywhere from here, but my bet is still that we may have already seen the highest average monthly sunspot number for this cycle. www.solen.info/solar/cyclcomp2.html

Looking at the trend, cycle24 is peaking this year and would not be surprised if it has peaked allready!Solar cycle 24 started late ramping up and maybe December 2012 could be the indication from the sun worshippers_Mayas) that a new era will start? Maybe a greater cycle we do not see or have not experienced coming? Surely something is different that's for sure and I do not feel very comfortable!!!

Got to keep reminding myself...it's only peaked for the northern hemisphere of the sun...the south still has a year or so to go...

What would happen to the Bz meter on the main page, if the component dropped to -300nT?
