The green ray

Last week , I was watching the Sun set over the sea
with friends
when the last section of the disc disappeared over the sea
there was a distinct green flash .
the day after we observed only a green spot
I was told of it but believed it to be some delusion
a friend took it with a camera .
is there any explanation ?

It's called Green Flash, a very rare phenomenon. You are very lucky to have observed it twice.
