Typical! Seems so many always see a solution in banning something. No doubt mostly because its a solution where the believer doesn't have to do jack diddley to help with the problem. Yeah kids are sleep deprived, physically slow to develop, obese, aggressive, etc. But the reason isn't handheld technology the reason is in our fast paced lives we have too little time with our kids and we have become over protective of their activities. Get them outside, go camping, play catch, go fishing, hunt frogs, hike, ride bikes. . . .at the end of the day your kids will sleep, they will develop their muscles, and they will develop a healthy appreciation of life, and they will learn self respect which is the first step towards respecting others. Thats not an easy solution especially in the inner-cities where you throw the kids out of the house into a bad element. Organized sports is kind of like white bread. It has some of the stuff you need to develop but the rigid structure of organized sports lacks in teaching people to think for themselves like nature does due to the infinite variety of nature. Organized sports helps build bodies but falls short in building minds. Plus organized sports makes more losers than winners whereas the nature and the outdoors makes winners of all survivors. . . .a much more effective builder of self respect.
