It could happen. The old main stream media had a comfortable relationship with politicians that effectively amounted to discretion and censorship. The controlled the news, which led to the media determining ahead of time what the news would be - the narrative they want to tell. This is very apparent when the talking heads on broadcast TV and old print media suddenly start using the same 'meme' that was obviously delivered them as this is the talking point. Then along comes the Internet and despite their best attempts they are losing control of the narrative. We are now seeing a battle for the provision of the news and control of the message to the people. Politicians have joined with the media to try to fight back what is happening and often the fake news that would have been unquestioned is now rapidly discredited. Anyone with a smartphone is able to report real time what actually is happening. CNN making posters for scripted 'protesters' with careful camera angles suddenly shown by someone with a smart phone to be faking news. Expect attempts at severe censorship under the guise of stopping fake news, including Youtube and twitter bans on people. Once it becomes plainer that these internet companies are in bed with the politicians (sometimes literally) then I expect other internet applications to start up. This information battle is getting really interesting.

Macron's crackdown on 'fake news' is an attack on free speech. Macron, Trudeau, Kim Jong-un and others like them want to control what you say and think.

BEGINNING OF THE END: Natural disasters to spike because of climate change, says scientistAssuming this guy is being quoted correctly, which is also a real issue these days, then one wonders where he got his Ph.D and why. Research is the whole underpinning of a Ph.D. Perhaps I should send him a copy of "A Chronological Listing of Earl Weather Events". Think it would do any good?

I suspect the rush to pollute the atmosphere to cool the planet to get even more desperate as the planet cools on its own. These charlatans want to be able to spray a little - then say "see how well our cooling scheme worked" I would have them sun bathe on the Red River for the next weeks in their swim wear as it is 'so warm'.

Perhaps the constant companionship of Vlad the Impaler would improve their attitude ...

A rather trusting take - that doesn't take note of the links between North Korea and Iran which is currently run by hard line Shia who see a nuclear war as a way of getting a world caliphate and the return of the 12th Imam.
