Living in the same country as Lennart Bengtsson comes from, how many words do you think have been written or said in main stream media here about this fact ? Zero. Not a single note or comment, what I´ve seen or heard. This in a country often being mentioned as one of the most democratic ones.....but is in reality only true if you have "politically correct" opinions. If not, you get frozen out and considered as a subject of ridicule. The swedish famous writer Wilhelm Moberg, put words on this already back in 1965 in an article in one of the bigger swedish newpapers and is how AGW is being considered here in a nutshell (my translation): "In a democrature there are general and free elections, freedom of opinion formally applies but politics and media are dominated by an establishment that considers (only) certain opinions shall be put forward. The consequence is that the citizens are living with a vision that they are being given an objective and comprehensive picture of the reality. Repression of opinion is well covered, the free debate is being suffocated."

Same in Australia Anse with only a few journalists suggesting everything is not settled. This is encouraging though, from Maurice Newman who chairs the Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Council: Climate is right for a probe into the Bureau of MeteorologyThe article is behind a paywall but there is more from Mr Newman here: No evidence that man has caused warmingHe's sticking his neck out and - of course - has been roundly criticized.

I would have thought the new Prime Minister could call the head of BOM to a press present meeting and state something along the lines of the paragraph quoted above; then say: "I want a detailed explanation of the data from each and every weather station with actual observations and 'homogenized' values, and full justification if there is any difference for every station that is different. You will also produce a graph showing the actual recorded data as a time series then another showing the BOM modified values as a time series. I expect a fully documented explanation of any differences. You will produce that information next week at this time. The continued funding of BOM rests on a good presentation next week."
That might put a cat amongst the pigeons
