At the height of the IRA bombings in UK, I was on the underground Central Line and it stopped in Tottenham Court Road station and did not move after the customary 90 seconds or so - the passengers got restless then there was an announcement of a 'suspicious' bag in the second carriage. Grudgingly passengers edged back to the middle of the third carriage with some poor police trying to push back the crowd. After 15 minutes someone pulled the bag out - and the crowd - without waiting surged back into the train. Always like that in London, the day after the so called 7/7 bombings on the tube commuters were complaining that it wasn't running.

The most amusing low flying complaint I had to deal with later in my previous existence was from a farm veterinarian with a broken arm. He had his arm elbow deep in the back end of a cow when a low flying aircraft startled the cow ....  |
