Hello I am new to this form. but the answer I have not found. Is the galactic convergence of 12/12/2012. going to change magnetic solar activity onto the earth's polls. there so much science junk. and some real great science. let me know.

I don't believe we know enough of the laminar structure of the galaxy to say we will pass though what and when. That does not mean we won't be passing through strata in the outer disk of this Spiral Galaxy we call the Milky Way, because we most assuredly are in an orbit of sorts. Since we do know the Milky Way out in our locale is laminated with stars, clouds & dust, we will be passing through layers. Recent surveys have shown galactic clouds high above the galaxy in Pegasus, and many clouds around Ursa Minor/Major and elsewhere. There is even a rare line-of-sight hole in the clouds in the constellation of Lynx. The magnetic fields in the galaxy are another story. We sent one of the Voyager or Pioneer craft out of the plane of the solar system. Did we send it in a direction that is where the sun is now headed to? You might look into that. The date is tied to the end of the Mayan Calendar, and since the Mayans are not around, we don't know if they meant for their calendar to repeat or end. If you want to know, you have to start digging, and expect to spend years at it.

Is the galactic convergence of 12/12/2012. going to change magnetic solar activity onto the earth's polls. there so much science junk. and some real great science. let me know. It is December 21 2012, in fact the winter solstice of 1998 was a significant date as well, similar to Dec 21 2012. This site gives a good explanation of the maths behind it all. The author even gives his opinions as to why the calender ends at 2012. There are to trains of thought, the first is the Mayans just fluked this date to be the end or this date is significant and the Mayans had a very high and precise knowledge of Earths orbit etc. In regards to what will happen who knows but i beleive the Mayans looked at this as a "sacred triple rebirth of the sun" what thats means is anyones guess. Here is the site www.infinitelymystical.com/essays/2012-part1.htmlCheers

The Mayans ran their calendar based on the crossings (transits) of Venus across the sun: These transits happen very predictably, and have been recorded in Europe since Mercury and Venus were "known" as planets (wanderers) with very different patterns and periods than the "regular" changes of the sun's elevation and setting positions.
A transit requires the earth and Venus both be in the same plane, and both be in a straight line with Venus between the earth and sun:
From Wikipedia: Transits of Venus are among the rarest of predictable astronomical phenomena and currently occur in a pattern that repeats every 243 years, with pairs of transits eight years apart separated by long gaps of 121.5 years and 105.5 years. Before 2004, the last pair of transits were in December 1874 and December 1882. The first of a pair of transits of Venus in the beginning of the 21st century took place on 8 June 2004 (see Transit of Venus, 2004) and the next will be on 6 June 2012 (see Transit of Venus, 2012). After 2012, the next transits of Venus will be in December 2117 and December 2125.[
OK - So why did the Mayans stop their calender at the June 2012 transit? Maybe because they ran out of pages (er, rock) to write on. 8<)
After all, why do we sell calendars that stop on Dec 31?

I have just seen the film '2012' at the cinema, and found it very interesting. After the recent hacked climate data e-mails affair in the UK, it is interesting to think of what the powers that be would do if the world was faced with a magnetic pole reveral and/or the eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano, as shown in the film.

I watched a lot of documentaries, some on PBS, some on DvDs. Some of those mention Schumann Resonance, which I personally don't fully understand, there is also talk of a "galactic energy pulse" occurring approximately every 13,000 years, some think it may have been responsible for the last mass extinction of 60 species on the North American continent. I began doing research on the internet and stumbled on a few interesting things published by NASA The First - 9/28/2009 ****** www.nasa.gov/topics/solarsystem/features/ray_surge.html****** The Second - 12/23/2009 ****** science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2009/23dec_voyager.htm****** You might want to check out DVDs "2012 Mayan Prophecy and the Shift of the Ages - 2009." There they mention the I-Ching, which ends on 11/17/2012(though all over the internet it says that I-Ching also ends 12/21/2012), so the ancient Chinese and the Mayans appear to be at a disagreement on the subject. Technically we are entering the Age of Aquarius. Perhaps that is why the calendars end. Maybe the disparity of the dates between I-Ching and the Mayan calendars stems from the fact that no one can agree on when the said age actually begins. ****** www.straightdope.com/columns/read/1081/when-did-the-age-of-aquarius-officially-starten.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_Aquarius****** The truth of the matter, imho, is that, no one really knows what exactly would happen on 12/21/2012, except for the galactic alignment. Maybe someone on this board can shed more light on this?

the mayans tracked solar cycles dec 21st 2012 is the rebirth of the sun the 13th cycle
they expect solar flares to burn the earth due to the magnetic disturbance caused by the alignment
