Forecast to hit 30 F tonight. Grumble, grumble. I'm on a hill slope, so maybe the worst will drain away. Standard Missouri weather. Yesterday was 88 F. Today is 60 F. If forecast holds, we'll probably still be close to normal for the month. Peach trees bloomed and have been pollinated. Apple trees look like they want to bloom. Hope they don't get frosted.

What is that look, Missouri? THAT look are blossom capsules that are swollen beyond containment and are starting to pop ... releasing their flowers to unfurl. A couple have already popped. The bees are applauding. |

Here in Middle Earth, our coldest (min. tmp) for April 13th was 22 F in 1950. Our coldest April night so far this year is 30 F. No southward umpff in this punch. Our coldest evah min. in April was 14 F in 1920. That even beat 1899 which was 18 F. Of course we all know that they couldn't see straight in those days.  |
