I found this post by Judith Curry interesting in that it seems to indicate that previously she has not focused much of her attention on the early 20th century global temperatures. After looking at the early temperatures she says.. “A careful look at the early 20th century global warming (shows warming) which is almost as large as the warming since 1950. Until we can explain the early 20th century warming, I have little confidence(in the)IPCC and NCA4 attribution statements regarding the cause of the recent warming.” If Judith is successful in getting people to pay attention to the long-term history of global temperatures it’s possible they will see the 60-year ocean current cycle and change their minds about the lack of natural warming and cooling. Of course, they could just change the historical temperature data to fit their models like they are prone to do. judithcurry.com/2019/01/23/early-20th-century-global-warming/

Unfortunately, the "true" believers in the cult of the demonic climate Easter bunny will likely not relent their absolutist beliefs until they are pried (literally) from their cold, dead minds. Pun intended. With apologies to Charlton Heston. With the proper instrumentation and open minded approach, the next decade will likely reveal to us many things. Climate science has never been at a more opportunistic moment in time if the cultists will self-destruct. Excellent article by the way.

LOOKS LIKE I'M SCREWED ON ARGO
My current files on the Marine Atlas go through June 2018 and I've been waiting for an update to appear. Today I went directly to the site to see if a new version had been released or something. www.argo.ucsd.edu/Marine_Atlas.htmlWell I got my answer. Global Marine Argo Atlas Important notice: The file size for the RG Climatology has reached the size limit in the version of Ferret for Windows. Therefore, in the current Windows version(V1.2.3), the Atlas can only be used through June 2018. The RG Climatology is up to date on the ftp website and can be used in the Linux and Mac versions V1.2.3. For Linux and Mac users, see the "manual update data only" section for instructions on how to get the latest data. Anybody know if I can run Linux on my machine in combo with my Windows operating system? I've never played with Linux.

I love this forum, thank you everyone. I have learned so much since I first logged on in November 2008. Also, thank you for all the memorable, re-usable phrases I have pinched and used elsewhere. The latest is ' the cult of the demonic climate Easter bunny'.

I was looking up partitioning instructions when MOboy the younger, the Comp Sci major, said he had software that could set up a virtual machine environment which would accomplish the same thing. So he's going to give it a go. If you don't hear from me for a while its because he sent my machine to Mars.

Have you looked at other clients, eg, Filezilla?

You can either partition your drive and effectively decide whether to boot into Windoze or Linux _Or_ you can run the machine permanently in Linux and run WINE - a windoze 10 environment as a virtual machine in Linux - this has the advantage that any attempts by various viruses to hijack your machine get puzzled very quickly ;-) WINE can be run in MacOS and BSD too.

I shall repeat this here (although it is auto-updating upthread) Note the lack of anything El Nino the Humboldt current going walkabout and apart from heating from Ratty's coastline it is very cold down South. So where is all this heat we are told repeatedly is in the oceans?

The Humboldt current is going west too fast. Wonder why??? Good catch Sig. Nobody has satisfactorily explained (perhaps I missed it) the mechanics behind the Great Climate Shift of 1976 that raised Northern Hemisphere temperatures by a goodly amount within a decade, at least in the continental US. I do not doubt that our great liquid heat reservoirs and their movements have strong effects on land climate patterns and their changes. But I don't think that the oceans drive themselves. Most of the posts I remember seemed focused on the Pacific. If the 1976 "shift" raised temperatures significantly over a decade, they can possibly lower temperatures by a similar amount over a decade. After all, any lapse is in the water, as land has little to no thermal storage capacity. I think that the Great Gore could serve double duty as an ocean buoy. I saw your post for a second there DuWayne ... and then it disappeared.
