www.space.com/11084-supermoon-earthquake-storm-natural-disasters.htmlOk, so the moon is gunna be closer on March 19, 2011 than it has in 18 years. Some Astrologer guy thinks this could cause disastrous storms, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, dogs and cats talking etc.. Although, I did do a little checking, the last time the moon was closer, March 8, 1993, four days later one of the worst Nor'easters in history hit the US East Coast. With Snow from Canada to Jacksonville, Florida. Hurricane force winds and storm surge. Heavy Squall line across the Caribbean. Over 300 dead. Record snowfalls all over the US and Canada East Coast. A barometric pressure of 960 millibars was measured in New England, normally that's only seen in Cat 2 Hurricanes. Perhaps, there's something to this "supermoon" storm thing after all. *EDIT -- My appologies, Astromet. I just saw the post on the La Nina thread where you mentioned the strong Lunar perigee for that date.

The moon's distance varies between 406 thousand and 356 thousand kilometres in its monthly orbit.
The up and coming perigee is 356,577 km which is, for example, 0.1% closer than the 3 or 4 closest perigees last year.
It is not yet at this close distance. At the moment (half way between perigee and apogee) it is at a very average distance from the earth, so the tidal stresses will be very average too.

So basically the moon varies it's distance, very roughly about 1% above or below average distance from Earth during it's trip around. That added 0.1% could have some effect. Now, I'm certainly NOT saying it caused this Earthquake, since the perigee isn't even for another week. But I think it could have had an effect on that 1993 Nor'easter. NOT that it was the root cause of the storm, but may have had an effect to make it as severe as it was. All the conditions lining up just perfect.

I actually did warn about the coming earthquakes on on my site Global Astrology: See -> globalastrologyblog.blogspot.com/And, according to my calculations, there are more earthquakes to come this month and in April. We're in a very strong astronomical period now.

Astromet, Hat tip to you, for those who don't bother to read your site, here is the relevant quote,
"With the global transits at hand, there are sure to be powerful, large magnitude earthquakes in the months of March and April.
My astrological calculations show a 88.9% rating for significant seismic activity between 6.6 to 7.9+ in magnitude.
There are additional planetary configuration signals I've interpreted that show even stronger quakes by scale - 8.9 to 9.2 in magnitude. Some people will not believe me, but transits are well within astrological red-zone warning range.
Significant Dates
*March 10,11 *March 18,19,20,21 March 28 April 1,2,3 *April 4 *April 9,10 *April 15 *April 16,17,18 April 24 "
I guess not too many others dared to forecast a possible ~9 'quake, and got the date right! (as well as the location, the pacific ring.)

The situation, sadly, in Japan is going to get much worse, as hard as it is to believe, but a nuclear core meltdown is also on tap, at not one, but at least two reactors with three others in serious trouble. The days, weeks and months ahead will be very difficult for the region and the world considering the astronomical configurations. Moreover, there are earthquakes ahead for the west coast of North America, especially California. Anyone living in California, especially LA needs to get their emergency plans into action.

An actual guess about the future. Of course it leaves out the magnitude and timing, but from Astrofaker it is as good as can be expected. We'll see if it pans out.

Just dandy. If you are in California, especially Los Angeles, and about 23 miles south of LA, then it is a good idea to get preparations for large magnitude seismic activity. There's still time, but we are already in a very sensitive cycle that lasts until the end of April, early May.

Sgcp, I suspect you are well aware of what will be needed "when the big one hits." For those less aware, www.survival-preps.com/More on urban survival after the big one: ferfal.blogspot.com/And for those who can't quite make it out: you need a year's supply of food for each person you are or could become responsible for. ie, you, your immediate family, and helpless and hapless relatives. Plus enough for a deserving acquaintance or two. That means about 1,200 pounds of the canned (preserved) food you like to eat for each person. And remember that one pet eats for one person. Believe it or not. You are not likely to have safe water, so you need a filter that will provide at least two gallons of potable water a day for each person and pet. This is a good one, cheap, and remember you will probably need a spare: www.monolithic.com/stories/a-practical-life-sustaining-water-filterYou will need clothes and bedding suitable for exposed winter camping, as well as very lightweight and durable summer clothing. You will also need at least a years supply of health and comfort items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, aspirin, and so on. You will not have a source for fuel, so don't buy a generator. Put your money in weapons for self defense. In short, get guns, learn to use them, and use them if you have to. Morality? The man who would steal your horse or your emergency supplies would leave you to die a lingering death. He has made his choice, and it is not a moral one. For the "people of the book," morality requires you to "rise up, take up your weapon, and slay him." Or to capture him and decorate the nearest tree with his carcass. That last discourages his pack mates. Stranger

If only more people who live in seismically-active and coastal regions were as informed as you are when it comes to preparation and using common sense for emergencies.

The solar flares are playing a major role, but so are the Moon and planets relative to the Earth. We have several oriental, or eastern declinational crossings over the vernal equinox point, the most primary one was Uranus, which shares the same orbital plane as the Earth. Uranus recently entered tropical Aries, and starts a new cycle, this occurred March 11th. The Jupiter-Saturn opposition will be exact March 28th, and is now with orb. This will be preceded March 19-20 by the closest lunar perigee in 19 years. The configurations relative to the Earth strongly correlate to the pulling on land, sea and air tides this month and in April. We should see things calm down in May, but we've got March and April to get through. It's not over yet - there will be more earthquakes and volcanic eruptions in this time period, according to my forecasts.
