Hi Kiwi, Sorry to see you go. Have a look at the book 'Good Calories Bad Calories' - it may be in your area of interest. Gary Taubes and Dr Peter Attia formed the non-profit NUSI (http://nusi.org/) funded by public donations to support research into obesity (especially childhood obesity) I am familiar with their work. Peter Attia has been very helpful (eatingacademy.com) but he has left NUSI and gone into private medical practice. As he says, Nutrition is too like politics and religion, and he got a bit tired of all that. I am a little more eclectic in my approach - it isn't just Sucrose, or fructose, or carbs. It is a little more complex than that. Why have carbs become so toxic? Is it Roundup? Plastics? DES? Processed Oils? I know how to stop the damage, and maybe reverse things, but this whole area is a mess. My blog is going to be a but of everything, but a pointer to those I respect who each have part of the answer. Take care All the best Kiwi. I see you haven't lost your accent completely: "My blog is going to be a but of everything" Sorry.

JAXA all fixed and back up. June 1st put us under 10.5 million, 440,000km2 less than the nearest rival. Siberia getting torched. Check the remaining snow cover compared to the past couple of days! More aggressive than the 2012 event in June ( and earlier). With a strong Di-pole setting up expect to see fram, and the killing zone above it (where Atlantic warm waters have been eating ice since feb.) take an amount of ice before we see a big high sets up over the CAB...... I wonder if the whole remain pack could set in motion if the high remains long enough? As the month progresses we will end with two zones bad for ice, Alaskan side of Beaufort and over Fram. even without in-situ forcing ice is in danger of drift into active melt zones? Bold is why I can't stop rolling my eyes every time I see the name graywolf ... and he probably sees no disagreement between the bolded hyperbole and what he calls science. Nope, no emotional investment there, is there? Nothing but pure data evaluation ... which is why words like "wonder" is used so often. Eyes rolling involuntarily as I re-read to see if I missed one ... You'll have to excuse me if I miss one due to that involuntarily eye action. I'm resisting the urge to bold the predictions what absolutely never work out - they'll speak for themselves, although they won't discourage graywolf, I'm sure. I find it to be something akin to someone listening through a stethoscope the first time who gets Barney Fife eyes every time he hears a bump from the heart and tries to convince us why that bump-bump he hears through that stethoscope is something that should alarm us all, and something we must find some way to stop.

After a long absence, I have returned briefly to say goodbye. Climate change has lost all interest for me - at least the passion to say anything has gone. Since late 2014, I have studied naught but biochemistry, nutrition and (lately) stroke recovery. After all, the current obesity epidemic is going to bankrupt the West long before the Climate Change industry does so. The government health guidelines are killing more people daily than high electricity prices ever will. To catch me, you'll find me at kiwistonewall.wordpress.com/ talking nutritional science, stroke recovery, and other things that annoy me about the modern health system! kind regards to all. Sorry to hear that Kiwi. We will miss you here, but climate is hardly a concern compared to an event like a stroke in the life of a family member. Best of health to you and yours.

OK; Sea ice at lowest volume ever recorded for the time of year. Extent/Area at the lowest ever for this time of year. Snow pack, well below 'average' for this time of year. sites.google.com/site/arcticseaicegraphs/

In any case, both extent and area are about to rectify things (according to the wriggles). "Snow pack, well below 'average' for this time of year." Whose 'average' and since what date? "Sea ice at lowest volume ever recorded for the time of year." Not wishing to split straws ...... The glass is half full GW.

You do realize that the ice pack has existed for tens of thousands of years? And your "ever" and "ever recorded" and "average" are all based on what? Maybe 50 years of data? And you imply from that that these "evahs' are anthropogenic? Hubris.

The human race NEEDS the Arctic ice fee during the summer so that ships can use the shorter route and emit less CO2. It is a win win for humanity. Lower freight costs and lower CO2 emissions.
The faster the Arctic becomes ICE free during the summer the better! Besides, the last time this happened the world was a MUCH more hospitable place for humans!

lets keep the perspective here GW.
Your comments are aimed at the concept that CO2 emissions by us is collapsing the Arctic ice cover in summer rather than some cyclic process that may or may not include some impact by our emissions.
Without showing some mechanism that actually preserves or grows the Antarctic ice during this death spiral you clearly show that there is a trivial level of understanding of the forces in play.
Wiggle commentary is not little more than noise. I personally still hold the view that there is a significant risk that CAGW is a risk, but its clear that you have some linkage to the :official" BS machine and if its just wiggle worship then we are safe in the business as usual mode.

[ Snip ] And.........? What? Please provide a sensible path forward, one that will actually happen in reality? Writing my Senator or Congress person would do diddly squat. Driving a Prius would do diddly squat. Living on tofu and heating my home with solar would do diddly squat. What is a sensible path forward? Code, we have a BIG Federal election coming up on 2nd July. All Federal House of Representatives seats and ALL state Senators positions are up for grabs. ** Do you think it would help if I vote Green this time? ** a "normal" Federal election is for all House of Representatives but only half the Senators. This one is called a Double Dissolution. Anyone interested can click on the link; it's exciting reading.

Kiwi: May your wife continue to improve. Thanks for the link to your blog. And Sig, I owe my wife's life to you thanks to your pointing me in the right direction. Had she still been obese, and metabolically ill, pre-diabetic etc etc I don't think she would have come through the stroke as well and as fast as she has. She was heading for an early death. We both now have hope for the future - instead of just facing a miserable decline into ever more serious medical conditions. Oh, we all die of something - but our journey through the next 20 or 30 years together is something I now believe more likely, instead of my facing a long time without my soulmate. God bless you sir! Very touching kiwistonewall...very best of luck to you and your lady.

You guys have no idea! Our politicians never promise anything they cannot deliver. Oops. Apologies for the use of "guys" ..... hope I didn't offend gender-sensitive members. Turn hard left for a world without reality

Sig, you don't appear to have got the memo. The world being good for humans is a the disaster that the environmentalists are trying to prevent. Ice in the Arctic should increase until Iceland is at the edge of the permanently frozen ice. Temperatures in northern Europe should never go above 55F / 13C, winters should start in October and no sign of spring until April and be continual hard frosts. That would be nirvana for the warmists.

A 'joint sitting' ... sounds like the old Native pow-wow passing around the pipe ... or the 'joint' if ya know what I mean. Either way, a 'double dissolution' gives you the chance to get rid of the bas-tards all in one sitting? Quite convenient really. Perhaps we should try that here. Our House of Lords would be quite contrite I believe.
